Songs are not being show (not getting detected) in the music list

My sandisk e260 mp3 player is not detecting any songs (except 3 songs)
I copied close to 500 songs and arranged them in 3 folders. Only 3 songs are being show in the music list. Rest of the songs are not getting detected.

I dragged and dropped them intothe Music folder.
Kindly help me out.

I just found out how to put songs onto the sansa with no problems. Worked for me anyways. First open up windows media player 11 and put the songs on that. Then plug in your sansa (usb) to your computer and windows media player should automaticly detect it and synchronize all the songs on wmp onto the sansa. Then simply unplug and it should all be there.

The Sansa e200 series does NOT recognize folders properly.

Remove all of the music from the folders and try using Playlists to organize your music.

Best of Luck.

K i had the same problem twice,

the first time i couldnt fix it because i ended up getting a device read error when i tried to acces it in my computer, but i think whatever caused that was different than the second time.

this time my device retained all the songs origionally on it but wouldnt reckognize any new songs. In addition to that, when i deleted all the songs off the player and only put a couple back on the player didnt register those either. so it would seem to me that it is a problem with the device's database refreshing algorithim...although thats just a guess. fix it i copied all the data & folders off the sansa (including the .txt and .sdk files) and stored them on my desktop. After that I tried the e200 firmware upgrader available at

After messing around for 2 hours trying to figure out what was going on i deleted all my music, videos, recordings and pictures off the device and proceeded to format it in msc mode.

after the format was complete, i re-copied the data i had backedup on my desktop and pasted it back onto the sansa.

it seems to have worked...but then again i still don't know what caused the problem so it may not work for you. (i think it may have been something to do with one of my music files since both instances happened after i uploaded the same 5 songs onto the player)

also, i had numerous virtual folders & files that had conflicting sizes and would not open when i clicked on them (windows says they had +4GB sizes but properties says 0B also when clicked i get a file not found error).

hope this helps.

Go to my computer scroll to sansa or your MP3 player and open the music folder and open each sub folder and delete Songs manually then delete the folders themselfs then format a couple of times hope this works

Try and drag and drop from your music folder to the media folder on the player make sure usb mode is msc this will show you all the folders Use your windows explorer for the transfer... much easier...If you don't have copies of your music copy to a folder on the computer2.gif first

Songs will not transfer to E260

Make sure the songs that you put on are in a format compatible with your player.

If they are not compatible they will not show on the screen or play....

Problem recognizing songs in sansa e260 mp3 player.

From what I'm hearing you don't have a good driver. If you still have the disk use that. If not google it or something. I have a Sansa e260 as well so I would suggest loading the songs on in windows media player rather that windows explorer. If you open Media Player and then go to sync and it does not recognize your device, then you have a bad driver. If not, then start syncing your songs that way.

Hope everything works,

My songs show up in music folder on the drive, but not on the actual player.

Backup the songs on the player, delete them from it and load them back on. This should build the song lists back up.

Songs Not Loading On Player

Did you use Windows Media Player to format?

WMP never does a thorough format.

If so, try formatting thru My Computer. Right Click on the Device (e260) and select FORMAT.

Then try transferring your music again.

Best of Luck.
