Change Motor but turn table does not turning?

test the following steps and fix it. God bless you

Turntable Motor

If the microwave turntable doesn't turn the turntable motor might be worn out. This is a common problem and relatively easy to replace.

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the microwave turntable doesn't turn the touchpad and control panel might be defective. This is not common. Test the turntable motor first.

Touchpad

If the microwave turntable doesn't turn and the touchpad has a button to turn the turntable on and off the touchpad might be defective. Check the turntable motor first, that is more likely.

User Control and Display Board

First, make sure the turntable coupler under the glass dish is not broken. Second, on the control board, find the turntable relay and test for voltage. Some turntable motors are 24 volts DC, so make sure your testing the correct voltage. If no voltage from the control board, then replace the control board. Otherwise head towards the turntable motor.On OTR models, you can get to the motor by un-screwing the bottom panel on the microwave. On countertop models, there will either be a knockout or screw on access panel. Check for voltage at the motor. If no voltage, check the wiring back towards the control. If voltage, then replace the turntable motor. The component list below also shows how to test a turntable motor.

Turntable does not rotate on r24stm model

Hello,

Check the turntable guide to make sure it is lined up properly and that there is no debris caught in it. You may need to re-align or clean your turntable guide.

Cleaning and realigning a turntable guide;

Remove your glass turntable cooking tray from your microwave. Gently wash with warm soapy water to remove any debris. Next remove the turntable guide and clean it in the same manner, with warm soapy water. Pay particular attention to the turntable rollers. There could be spilled food particles caught in the rollers, hindering the rollers' movement. Also, gently cleanse the internal cavity of your microwave, paying special attention to the area below the turntable.

With the internal cavity, turntable, and turntable guide completely clean and dry, return the parts to your microwave. First place the turntable guide on the bottom of the microwave. There should be a circular groove in the bottom of the microwave cavity keeping the turntable guide in place. Follow the guide with the turntable cooking tray. Carefully place the glass tray over the turntable guide and onto the drive bushing. The drive bushing should fit neatly into the grooves on the bottom of your glass cooking tray. It may take some adjusting before the tray will sit properly onto the drive bushing.

Test your microwave after this thorough cleaning and realigning in order to determine whether this has solved your problem. DO NOT run your microwave with nothing in it.

CAUTION: Your microwave oven is capable of giving you a serious electrical shock, even when it is unplugged. We strongly suggest you seek the assistance of an appliance repair technician when conducting any microwave oven repair.

Also, Examine the plastic drive bushing the turntable tray sits on. It may have become worn, or even may have split in two;

Drive bushing replacement

Inspect the plastic drive bushing located below your microwave oven's turntable tray. There may be some debris blocking the tray's range of motion. Clean away any blockage you find, and then test your microwave to see if this has cleared up the problem. DO NOT run your microwave with nothing in it.

However, if upon your inspection, you notice that the plastic drive bushing below the turntable tray is worn and/or broken, you will need to have the bushing replaced. Consult with a certified and experienced appliance repair technician. Replacing a drive bushing is a lengthy and involved process that the average layman should not perform.

Good luck.

My microwave is still working but not rotating, what is wroong with it

There's a turntable motor in the bottom of the oven that drives a turntable support directly in some models, and a plastic coupling that rotates the turntable in others. Turntable motor failure is common, or there could be connections in the power to the motor that have gone bad. Sometimes the plastic of the turntable coupling cracks, and the motor shaft turns but the turntable doesn't.

You can check a turntable motor with an ohmmeter. A good motor will show fairly low resistance (a few hundred ohms or less) between its terminals, while a very high or infinite reading means it's bad. In most models of oven you get at the motor through and access panel on the bottom. Replacement motors for many brands are available, although they're not always easy to find.

It may be more economical to replace the oven if it's a basic counter top model. They are under $50 these days, and a replacement motor might cost $20 or more. Of course, you can continue to use the oven even if the turntable doesn't, you'll just need to turn the food yourself occasionally during cooking.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!
