Question about Char-Broil Commercial Stainless Steel Grill

1 Answer

My gas grill will not get above 300 degrees...

So I replaced the burners and the burner support bracket. It still won't get past 300. I cleaned the whole grill when I replaced the parts.

It is propane, It cost me a fortune to replace the parts... but when I did I realized it probably wasn't the burners, but more the burner mount. But still didn't get that hot. Calling the # was worthless!!!

I have a Weber Spirit E-210 and the temp will not rise above 300. I cleaned the burners and still an issue. Does the Regulator need to be replaced?

The regulator may need to be replaced. But, before you do, follow the directions below.

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.
2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY, SLOWLY
(Slow motion, slow).
3. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first & turn it to HIGH.
Did the burner light and does the flame height look correct for being in the highest setting?
If so, light the remaining burners the same way. Now, did all the burners light and do the flame
heights all look correct for being on the highest setting? If so, you may have solved the problem.
4. Close the grill's Hood/Lid and allow it to heat for at least 20 minutes. At that point is the
thermometer registering higher than 300 degrees or quickly heading in that direction?
If so, you did solve the problem! Remember to always open the tank valve very, very slowly.

if that didn't solve the problem, you'll need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can get one at any home center or hardware store that sells grills and accessories for about $30.00.
Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope the helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know & Happy Grilling!!

My Coleman Seirra grill will not get to a temp greater than 300 degrees, even on high. Please advise. Thank you.

Does the flame height, when turned to HIGH on the burners, appear to be lower than normal? If so, it's one of two things:

1. You are low or about ready to run out of gas in the tank. Check gas level in tank.

2. The grill's regulated is partially locked up. Turn the tank valve OFF. Disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the grill first and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and does the flame height look correct? If so. light the remaining burners the same way. Do ALL of the flame heights look correct? If so, you solved the problem. Remember to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If none of the above solved the problem and (hint) the burners are clean and not clogged. You need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can purchase one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. They run about $30.00. Take your old one with you, just for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks and Happy Grilling!!

One day it will not heat up over 300 degrees and the next day it will heat up over 400 degrees without any problem. I dont know if it is the gas tank or the grill. Nothing on the grill appears to be...

More than likely, it's the OPD valve on the LP G tank. When it won't heat up above 300 degrees is after the tank was turned OFF & then turned back ON? If that is the case, disconnect the gas line from the tank, wait 5 minutes, reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve On VERY, VERY SLOWLY. This will keep the tank valve from locking up the grill regulator and thereby, gas will get fully to each burner. If this doen't correct the problem the first time, repeat the above procedure.

That should solve your problem

I thoroughly cleaned my Weber Genesis Silver A and have a full tank of gas. It won't get hotter than 250-300 degrees. Flames are blue.

You might have air block. When turning off the grill, leave one burner on and shut the tank valve.
When grill cools, close the remaining valve. When restarting the grill, open the tank valve, then the start burner, then the igniter. When first burner is going, open remaining two valves to preheat the grill.

This has worked on two different grills.

I have a Vermont Casting 3 burner BBQ, Model VM400XBP, 36,000BTU grill that won't go above 300 degrees? How can I fix it?

It could be something as simple as a triggered safety feature within the gas tank itself. These new tanks will react to the gas leaving the tank at a high flow rate causing low burner temps. To remedy: shut off gas and remove tank. Open and close all valves on the grill. Reattach the tank and SLOWLY open the valve 2 turns. Then retry. See page 13

Grill jenn-air will not heat past 100 degrees

You need to pull the burners out and scrub open the side feedholes on the burner. These ususally clog up over time reducing the heat available for cooking. Also, sometimes the Gas regulator goes bad over time when left outside for a year or two. A bad regulator will put out less gas as it fails closed.
