I have changed the black ink cartridge. even though it was not empty. Ink levels are fine. I have tried all the maintenance troubleshooting ideas and I still cannot print more than a page or two before the print is not visible.

Kodak ESP5 Printer.... purchase January 2009
Prints one or two pages then there are missing areas in the print area.
I have tried all the maintenance issues.... clean the head, realign the nozzle, reset the configurations, nothing helps. I replaced the black ink cartridge thinking it might be defective... not helping. Ink levels are fine.

You are wrong about Kodak outsourcing to India.
My tech person was very difficult to understand.
I am being sent a replacement print head.

There is a known problem with premature failure of the printhead. Call Kodak support at 1-800-421-6699. They will go through a short procedure with you, and then should offer to replace the print head free of charge. You should receive the replacement in two days or so and the nice thing is that Kodak is not outsourcing to India so you should be able to understand them quite well. Let me know how this turns out.

Sorry about that, I must have called a different number last time, since I called a center that was in the US which was a service center. Anyway I am glad that you are getting sent a new printhead. That should fix your problem. Have a good day.

I had a Epson printer that would not print or even allow me to use the scanner because the colored ink was out. Even though I had full black ink, it still would not let me print until i replaced the colored ink.

Lexmark X4650 InkJet Printer black prints fuzzy. Color is fine, but the black appears out of focus.

Try to check and make sure your black ink level is still good and not about to go empty. On the printer operator panel, press the Setup button > Maintenance > Ink Levels.
If the black ink level is still good, make sure the cartridges are aligned. Try this approach. On the printer operator panel, press the Setup button > Maintenance > Align Cartridges. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them as well as align the cartridges.
Try to print a document again to verify that the print quality has improved.

Epson Stylus NX415 does not recognize ink cartridges. Cartridges are Epson 88's. Worked for awhile, and then stopped recognizing them. Tried powering down the printer, cleaning the cartridges, turning...

Epson Printers are sensitive in terms of Ink Cartridges.. The latest Epson Printers does not have ink reseter.. Ink reseter are already built-in on the ink cartridges.. The problem on this printer is when you have a cartridge on your printer, let say, 30% of the ink level, even though your ink is new, and you change it without using the right ink replacement method, it will recognize your ink as a 30% ink level. When your ink level drops to 0%, but you have remaining 70% of the ink, it does not recognize it anymore. The chip on the ink cartridge is already registered as an empty cartridge.

I have replaced black ink cartridge 73N message on screen says Error i press ok to proceed message goes back saying replace ink cartridge?

The main problem in using the latest Epson printers, is the ink replacements. Ink cartridges like 73N has its own ink reseter (the little chip in front of the cartridge). Once you replaced the ink without using the right procedures, for example you have a 10% remaining ink level on one of the cartridge, and you replaced it without using the setup menu and selecting the replace ink cartridge, even though the cartridge is new, the printer will read the replaced cartridge as a 10% ink level cartridge. When the remaining 10%, drops to 0%, your cartridge will read as an empty cartridge. The chip on the cartridge is registered as an empty cartridge.
-try to replace the ink reseter or try to clean the cartridge chip then put back the ink.

I replaced the inkjet cartridges in a Brother 210c All in One and it still shows low ink levels in the color cartridges (Black is fine). Where do I need to troubleshoot?

Just unplug the machine and plug it back in while you hold the stop key for about 10 seconds. Usually clears up and resets ink levels.

Canon pixma mp210 printer - replaced ink cartridges with compatible ones - printer working fine except when printing both ink lamps come on solidly, not blinking, and status says there is no ink in...

Dear merryan,

This printer uses FINE cartridge which has memory chip inside that store ink level data. Once the cartridge is EMPTY we cannot restore this data to be FULL even though we physically refill ink until FULL. So the printer keep displays NO INK warning.

Similar with using compatible cartridge, NO INK warning still remain because ink level data has been recorded as empty. Why?. Here is the explanation. As far as I know no third party compatible cartridge produced this printer since canon protect it with the chip. Compatible cartridge that sold in the market is refurbish cartridge which repacked with another brand.

To fix this problem we need to deactivate ink level detection function by holding down STOP/RESET button for about 9 seconds or more for each cartridge. The consequence of this is ink level become UNKNOWN.
Hope this will be helpful to you

Regards,

Xanda
