Number locked letters become numbers

By pressing and holding down the Fn key which is located at the bottom left hand side of the keyboard next to the control "Ctrl" and press the F11 button will revert those numbers back into letter and pressing and holding the Fn key again and press the F11 will turn them back to number. Any further assistance please ask, Kronoguy

The keyboard is locked. Instead of letters, it gives me numbers

Click Fn+Numlk as this switches your keyboard to the numbers printed in blue. Pressing that combination again, puts the keyboard back to normal. The Fn key will switch the function keys to the designated lower operation, so your F11 key has the NumLk operation controlled by the Fn key

On my acer aspire one, how do i switch off the numbers on J K L U I O?. When i type i get only numbers on these keys and no letters.

I've done this to myself on my own Aspire One 10.1" netbook.
  1. Look at the last row of keys on your keyboard [The row your spacebar is on]
  2. Look to the left of the spacebar, you will see four keys labeled: [From left to right] "Ctrl" , "Fn", Window's Start symbol and "Alt"
  3. Now at the top right where the F1-F12 keys are located, you will see directly under the F11 key is the words "NumLk" that translates into Number Lock
  4. Press and hold the "Fn" key
  5. While holding the "Fn" press F11
  6. Now you should be able to use the letters
On a side note: All the blue symbols on your keys can only be activiated by holding the "Fn" key.
You can disable and enable many aspects of your notebook by using the Fn key.
[Many can be found on the F2-F8 key and the arrow keys]

Please just let me know if you need anymore help!

Keyboard keys that have purple numbers are locked. Can't type.

Your "Num Lock" is on.
Look for the num lock key (it's similar to the "caps lock" key in function)
If the "num lock" is blue, you may have to hold a blue "fn" key when you press num lock

There's is probably a light at the top of the keyboard that'll tell you when num lock is on.
