sounds like your communication board is out or your phone line is not working when you unplug your line and put a phone on it can you get a dial tone? then your fax machine is probably broke
call the number manually . and does it answer with a warble immediately or does the phone ring a lot and then answer. your timeout may be set too short on the sending fax setup.
does the print head move freely back and forth on the carriage?
If it dioesn't then that will cause the printer to error out and may give you a error 3.
Not sure but try a little oil on the carriage and move the assy back & forth a couple of times then clean the carriage off with a paper towle and try turning it on. does it still error out?
