Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My Palm Tungsten won't hold a charge. Also, every time I plug it in, I have to start all over setting the time, the time zone, the language, etc. Additionally, no memos, etc., that I have written while the Palm is on and plugged in are saved. I assume it needs a new battery, but I want to be sure that will solve the larger problems. I don't want to spend the money only to find that the device is a goner. I already went through that with my iPod.

Please use the free chat feature that palm offers. I am not sure of any other way to charge your palm. Here is the link. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see Palm Chat. Click on the Chat Now link and follow the instructions. Best wishes.

You might be able to find a charger on Ebay too.

I cannot sync my Palm Tungsten E with MS Outlook.

  1. Step 1 Install the Palm Tungsten software. This software is required in order to sync Palm Tungsten with Outlook Express. To install the software, place the CD-ROM in your PC and follow the on screen instructions.
  2. Step 2 Use the HotSync cable included with your Palm to plug into the USB port of your PC. You will then plug the other end of the cable into your Palm Tungsten.
  3. Step 3 Open the HotSync Manager program on your PC through the "Start" menu or clicking on the icon. You can manage the different programs available for synchronization through this program. Select Microsoft Outlook as one of the applications that you want synched onto your Palm Tungsten.
  4. Step 4 Turn on the Palm Tungsten. You will see a star icon on the menu of your PDA. Tap this star with your stylus to start syncing Microsoft Outlook Express. A dialog box will appear on your PC during the process to know the progress of the synchronization.
  5. Step 5 Unplug the cable from your PC and Palm Tungsten once the sync is completed. As the Palm resets, you will now notice that Microsoft Outlook Express is available on the PDA.

Tungsten E2 will not power on

The Tungsten is an excellent PDA
You do have to be careful with how you handle it if you've dropped it too many times or set it down too hard or whatever something inside will get cracked or disconnected.
So you may want to open it up (personally I use a really small screwdriver but there is a kit for 9.95 on PDAsmart.com that comes with a Shim like tool that is really useful for splitting the Tungsten open because its not easy getting it open and closed)any way open the back up and make sure everything is connected and clean especially the connectors to the screen, battery and USB/charging plugs. You may also need to try charging it overnight. If you haven't run the PDA in a while its going to read a full charge regardless of how much of a charge its actually holding. Also, there are alot of other places to get A PDA repaired do a little research and find a place near you that will repair a PDA. An official Palm repair is almost always going to cost you more than anywhere else.

Won't shut down

There are a couple of things you can try.

1- Poke the hole in the back where it says reset.
This will in essence reboot your Palm.

2- Make sure the Auto-Off after: is set to 2 minutes by going into the Preferences, Power section.

3- If your Palm is not holding charge, connect the Palm to charge it. Turn the Palm on and make sure the battery at the top has a lightning bolt going through it. This will let you know it is charging. Then, push the reset hole in the back to reset the Palm. This should reset the charging mechanism in the Palm and allow your battery to hold power.

If the Palm does not hold power after step 3, you may need to see about getting it serviced.

Palm Tungsten t5 WiFi

I suspect that you're in fact holding a Palm TX and not a T5 as the T5 does not have WiFi. If you're using the Palm SD WiFi adaptor, do a hard reset without the card.

(hold down the ON/OFF button whilst using the reset pin to press the reset button. You'll be asked if you are sure you wish to reset. You'll then be prompted to choose the language caliberate the screen etc..)

After that. Go and download all the updates and drivers from Palm Web site.

Tungsten T5 holding a charge

You basically "Arc Welded" your charging circuit in your PDA. Perform a hard reset By turning on your PDA with the soft reset on the back pushed. If this don't solve it.....yikes

Palm tungsten not switching on

Make sure that it has a full charge. I have been having problems with it not turning on as well, but it sounds like a different problem. I have bought a new battery from ebay and installed it. It is holding a charge great, but still isn't turning on all the time. I think the prob is with the datebook or something else. Good Luck!!!
