Question about KitchenAid KBLC36FKS Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Ice building up in the bottom of the freezer

Everything seems to be working right in my KBLC36FKS, temps all good, ice maker making ice, but there is ice building up in the bottom right corner of the freezer. Noticed it yesterday--turned everything off and used hot water to get ice out (about 3/4 of an inch in the corner). Turned it back on and seemed great--continued to make ice and temps back to normal. This morning I checked and ice is starting to build up again. I'm thinking the only water source is from the ice maker--is the spray off? It seems to be making the right amount of cubes??? Looking forward to any advice.
Thanks,
Nancy

SOURCE: Icemaker issue: cubes melting at the bottom causing water leak out the front

J, sounds like your dispensor flapper is not closing properly and you are drawing warm air up into the ice bucket. This model had an issue where the flapper pin holder was part of the housing and would break off. They have a kit now that fixes that problem. The only other thing it could be would be low freezer temps or it's staying in defrost too long. With out being there, I would start with the dispensor flapper. Check it out and post back.. SOURCE: Kitchenaid kscs25fjss01 (2002) front panel not working

Hi

If  The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Whirlpool refrigerator #ER2CHMXPL02 I think I have two separate problems. 1st one is a water leak that fills the bottom bins daily! The freezer does not seem to be defrosting, everything in there looks...

Could be that the freezer is too full with foodstuff and there is no air circulation, therefor, some places in the freezer build ice. The defroster is working and melting the ice that drips to the bottom bins.
I suggest you remove everything from the freezer. unplug the frigde. Let all ice build ups melt. Remove ice from the foodstuff and put back in. Make sure that vents in the freezer and fridge are not blocked.

Is the freezer freezing the food rock solid? Most ice makers require the freezer to reach a certain temp before it will make ice. What is the model number of your unit?

I have what appears to be a water leak of some kind in the freezer section near the ice making part of the freezer. You can tell because the freezer is building up ICE all around the bottom of the ICE...

Check to be sure your ICE door chute is closed or closing properly! I have encountered many of these units that have had the flap break off the mounting tabs inside the dispenser opening. If the flap appears to be intact, I would next guess that your ice maker timing is allowing the ice maker to over fill and spill water into the ice bucket.
You can confirm this problem by looking at the ice maker and seeing if the ice cubes in it are filled right up to the center bar that drives the cubes out of the mold.
Let me know if you have any more questions!

I have a GE refrigerator model # GSH25KGMB WW. It is a side by side with an ice maker and water dispenser. We have had it for about 9 years now. The ice maker hasn't been working right for about 6 or 7...

you could have several problems.

Since you mentioned your ice maker not working right - first check to see if your ice maker is hot (be carefull it can burn you if it is hot) - it is possible for an ice maker to hang in the heat cycle of the cycle producing excessive heat in the freezer. If this is the case unplug the ice maker and/ or just replace it.

The refrigerator gets it cold from the freezer so if the freezer is not working right, you'll soon notice it in the refrigerator side.

You can also check to make sure the evaporator fan motor is running(in the freezer) and the condenser motor(at the compressor) as well.

Also check the back panel of the freezer for excessive frost build up.

Jenn-Air bottom freezer ice maker not working

I took the arm of the ice-making machine out of the slot and put it back in, pushing it snugly inside the slot, then raised and lowered it several times. Then, with the arm in the up (stop making ice) position, I felt inside the ice-making tray, where I noted there were ice cubes as well as a sheet of ice at the base of the ice-making tray. I poured approximately 24 oz. of hot tap water into the tray to melt the sheet of ice. I turned the freezer temp control to "warmer". I think the freezer temp setting was too cold, causing the ice maker to freeze the water before it could make cubes. I have a working ice maker again!

Ice build up on freezer floor.

Hi, If ice is building in the freezer, you have a defrost drain hole plugged. Unplug the Fridge and then remove the rear panel off the freezer. There you will find ice built up in rain. Remove the ice (hair dryer works best). Once the ice is gone, you need to make sure the drain hole is open all the way. A baisting serringe with hot water works really well.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further. Please rate my answer so I know how I am doing.

Thanks
