Question about Peg Perego Vespa Scooter

2 Answers

Hi, my Vespa LX50 has a problem when accelerating from a stop position, sometime its fine, but most of the time, the engine revs up and a few seconds later I jolt foward and proceed. I just had my 5000Km service, seems odd that it is doing this. anyone know the cause?

yes, when I took it in for a service recently to repair it, they said that the variator was full of grease, something that should have been relatively grease free, seems like at my previous service at 5K, they did a quick fix revision.. they said they had spent an a good hour having to clean it up, since then I have had no problems.

After hour or two car will miss, almost felt like a fuel/air issue. Then acts like transmissions gone. As I accelerate it revs and shifts. (transmission guy said its a newer tranny, not the problem).

there is a few cars that will rev like this that is the auto choke to some engines coming into play (mostly noted on a dodge 1500 v6 mag year model 2000) this is sometimes normal as the auto choke will rev the motor for a while or so before letting the motor calm down per-say as the motor is warming up

Hi, Paul and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables misaligned or misrouted.
2. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
3. Intake system air leak.
4. Vacuum piston malfunction.
5. Pinholes or torn diaphragm.
6. Accelerator pump leaking or no output.
7. Plugged bowl vent or overflow.
8. Fuel level in bowl too low.
9. Restricted fuel supply passages.
10. Plugged jets or passages.
11. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.
12. The enrichner valve not seated or leaking.

Where is the choke positioned thanks on vespa piaggio 50cc

Below the fuel tap on the 'horn'. Little round plastic 'button'. Prone to getting lost though so maybe missing. Should be a little hole or spigot if the choke lever itself is gone.

Check for bad gas -- water in gas , it is likely you have left the choke on.
