Question about Jacuzzi Kitchen Iron Black Finish Undermount Sink

2 Answers

My black Jacuzzi sink is 1 1/2 years old and the color is fading. I tried to contact Jacuzzi to find out why and no answer. I have not used any chemicals to clean so don't know why it is happening. It looks like it is 50 years old.

Possibly happening due to water temp. Some sinks have a max temp rating of 120F (way too low in my opinion). Darker colors show this heat effect more than light colors. Too bad no one told us this before we installed our's.

My Swanstone sink is sixteen years old and still in very good condition except for a small chip. The sink is a cream color with black and white specks. Is there any way to repair the sink?

You should be able to have a competent repair or restoration specialist from a reputable granite or marble fabrication shop come to your home and fix the problem. If it is a very small chip (less than an eighth of an inch around, my first try would be super glue. Keep in mind the fill will be fairly clear in color, which may match the dark specks, if not use an indelible marker after you smooth the glue to color it black. Use the gel type super glue if it is on a vertical portion of the sink, otherwise use a thinner variety. Clean the chip with sop and water, let it dry then use rubbing alcohol to remove any grease or oil residue. Use a masking type tape to isolate the chip so you have less work once the glue dries. Fill the chip and once the glue is dry, use a single edge razor (Use extreme caution, razors are by nature sharp) to gently scrape, not cut the glue flush to the sink surface. The manufacturers of these sinks claims they are difficult to scratch, but pay attention to your pressure or you might create scratches on the sink itself. Hold the blade perpendicular to the surface of the sink and take your time scraping the dried glue down changing to a fresh blade often. If the chip is in a radius area of the sink, you will have to be a bit more creative and probably use steel wool to remove the excess dried glue. I would start with #000 and see how that works, maybe using #00 to start the process and finish with #000 or #0000 steel wool to match the finish of your sink. If your chip is larger than an eighth of an inch around, I would recommend hiring a repair and restoration specialist from a competent granite fabrication shop to make a color matched epoxy to fill the blemish.

What do I need to clean my sink with to keep the shine?

You can use Kohler cast iron kitchen sink cleaner, available on line, Jacuzzi recommends warm water, mild non-abrasive liquid soap for everyday cleaning and Barkeepers Friend or Zud for tougher stains. No Abrasives whatsoever. like Comet etc.

Just a note here that this phenom does happen just like toilet tanks just crackin while you are sitting in the living room watching TV. There is no explanation for it.

While I personally would not expect any manufacturer of anything to pony up 2 years after their warrenty expired, to each his own. I do however believe it would be good public relations if they gave you a replacement.

I understand your anger and frustration but I ask to to remember that getting a Ford Mustang that is a total lemon from the factory does not equate to all Ford Mustangs being lemons or that everything Ford makes is a lemon.

Godd luck and I hope they come through for you.

Jacuzzi luna plus will not come on lights or anthing this was a new install.never worked plumber skipped town has power to plugins

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Just because your installer skipped town, it is unlikely JACUZZI or the store you purchased the unit from is going to leave you high and dry. Try the retail outlet and if that won't work try JACUZZI direct for a warranty claim. Either way, you should be able to get the job completed without trying to tackle it yourself and possibly void future warranty coverage. You can reach JACUZZI at http://jacuzzi.com/resources/support.php

I have a black enamal cast iron jacuzzi kitchem sink with 4 holes for the faucet predrilled..the holes are 3" in dia. where can I find a faucet for this sink?

If you have a 3" hole I would definately say that is a special order faucet, But if 3" is a typo you can get what are called "cockhole covers" to cover the hole you're not using. What i usually do is, find a faucet that will use the 3 holes and install a soap dispenser, filtered water spigot, or a instant hot water spigot to fill the fourth hole.
If 3" is not a typo you might try to contact a granite countertop co. or call Jacuzzi and install a larger plate that will cover large holes and have new (smaller) holes drilled for a standard faucet

hope this helps

Jacuzzi undermount sink

Your sink is clearly made to be undermounted. No trim ring available. With all of the choices now available for sinks and faucets I would recommend that the jacuzzi sink be removed and that you select a new sink and faucet set to your liking. good luck.
