DVD Format Problem in Bose LS 48

I just broght a Bose LS 48 / SL2. For most of the DVD's I have the set says "wrong DVD region code"!!! What do I do? All these DVD's play on other DVD players - if the region code is wrong, they should not play on other systems also. Can I reply on [email protected]?

Thnaks jazz6er - all DVD's I have are purchased and not personally recorded or pirated. Also all of them are purchased in either Dubai or Qatar. I stay in Qatar. DVD Region Code is 02.

It appears some are either aftermarket or personally recorded DVD's that's causing the issue.

That Bose player is a universal player and it's settings specific. Check your region code / setting as United states uses NTSC and foreign countries use a couple others.

As well as check disk format as there's a huge difference between a player trying to play standard disks as opposed to Blu-ray.

Know of any sites where I can find the code to make my lifestyle 48 a region free machine?

There are quite a few but I am not sure Fixya condone that

I agree that ALL dvd players should be region free and that people should have a choice on what they watch.

I can tell you that the search terms I would use are "modelname region free hack" or "make region free hack"

but dont tell anyone I told you

SOME OF ME DVD'S WON'T DISPLAY A PICTURE AND SOME WILL

Make sure that the disc you are using are region 1. To check the disc region, look on the spine of the dvd. It should say NTSC region one. You can also download software to change the firmwar of the player to region free. Or your player may already have the capability built in. Go into your menu and check for region settings. If it has them, it should be set to "one" Se it to all regions and it will play any region disc.

Wrong region code?

It means that the DVD is formatted for a region other than the one that you are in. if this is a dvd you made yourself, you need to change the region code, otherwise the people who sold you the DVD gave you the wrong kind.

Playing dvds in other regions

The region code is fixed by the manufacturer and you will not find help from them to change it. However there are ways of doing it, go to the web site below and look in the left hand panel for "multi-region"............. http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/reviews/ChannelReviews.asp
