1394 Net Adapter "TCP IP not enabled in this connection" problem

I tried to make a "Network bridge" of my "Local Area Connection AND 1394 Connection", then it was working fine at first. then i decided to delete the "Network Bridge" after that in the said connection there were no packets sent and received... then that starts the unending error display of "TCP IP not enabled in this connection" when i try to repair the 1394 connection. even if if i tried reformat my laptop 3 times and re-install the driver. still did not work...send help anyone!

  1. Verify Ethernet adapter in device manger.
    1. Click Start > Search > Type in ncpa.cpl and press Enter.
    2. Click System>Hardware > Device Manager
    3. Click Network Adapters
    4. Verify adapter present, enabled, and no error messages.
    5. If error reported refer to OEM regarding error receiving

    1. Click on Start > Run > Type in ncpa.cpl and click OK.
  3. Double-click on the Local Area Connection icon.
  4. Click the Support tab.
    1. Ensure that Address Type: says "Assigned by DHCP."
    2. Ensure that the IP address is valid.
    3. If both are correct, click the Repair button and then skip to Step 9.
  5. If it does not say "Assigned by DHCP" click the General tab and then click Properties.
  6. Select "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" and then click on the Properties button.
  7. Ensure that the radio buttons are marked as "Obtain an IP Address automatically" and "Obtain a DNS Server address automatically" and click OK.
  8. Click OK again to close out of the Local Area Connection properties.
    1. Restart the system if any changes were made to the configurations.
  9. Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Repair.
  10. If the repair fails because the system is unable to flush the ARP Cache, the Routing and Remote Access service will need to be stopped and set to disabled.
    1. Click Start>Run>Type services.msc >Click OK.
    2. Double-click on Routing and Remote Access.
    3. Click the Stop button.
    4. Set Startup Type to Disabled and click Apply, then OK.
    5. Restart system.
  11. If the Repair fails to renew the IP address, ensure that all firewalls are disabled and try again.

Lost wireless connection. Diagnosis said network connection o.k but cable not connected to network adapter for local area connections. cheked and all cables connected even changed blue line ethernet...


Check if the wireless works by directly connecting to the Lan port and the system. If it works, you may have to check for the Wireless Home Setup. Check if there are changes made to the Freequencies. 802.3 g usually gives max range. In case you are working at a distance which the signal wouldnt cover, the system can show network not detected. Also try to work on a Manual Address mode than DHCP and find if the network is getting detected. Check if the WNC is enabled and if working on DHCP, try do a tcp ip reset using the command from the command prompt... by using the command ipconfig /release.
and then ipconfig /renew
if the ip is renewed successfully, the wireless router is allocating the new tcp ip address and your network should work. Good luck.

How do I enable the DHCP


Assuming you are on Windows (specifically XP):
1) Go to Control panel, 2) Go to network connections 3) Right click on the adapter in use (Wireless or ethernet? ) 4) Click on properties, in the main window select the TCP/IP as connection type and click on "properties" button just below the window. 5) . Change the settings to "obtain IP address automatically" instead of explicitly providing the ip addresses. 6) Restart your computer and its on DHCP now.
By the way, In any case if you loose network/internet after this, revert the settings to what they were.

Network Connections missing icon. Plus others problems.


XP tags "Local Area Connection #" with your Network Adapter. If you have a built-in LAN, it will take Local Area Conn 1" and when you disabled it and plugged in a new network adapter, it will be named Local Area Conn 2 and so on in that pattern. Your Local Area Connection will only be back when you plug the original Network adapter that XP tagged as Local Area Connection. It is not "variable" where you can choose how to name it.

Chapter 1: Connecting the Wireless-G Broadband Router

Hardware Installation

1. Locate an optimum location for the Broadband Router. The best place for the Broadband Router is usually at
the center of your wireless network, with line of sight to all of your mobile stations.
2. Fix the direction of the antenna. Try to place it in a position that will best cover your wireless network.
Normally, the higher you place the antenna, the better the performance will be. The antenna's position
enhances the receiving sensitivity.
3. Connect a standard Ethernet network cable to the Broadband Router’s Internet port. Then, connect the other
end of the Ethernet cable to your Cable or DSL Broadband modem.

4. Connect your network PCs or Ethernet devices to one of the Broadband Router’s numbered ports with a
standard Ethernet network cable.

5. Connect the AC Power Adapter to the Broadband Router's Power Socket and the other end into an electrical
outlet. Only use the power adapter supplied with the Broadband Router. Use of a different adapter may result

Chapter 2: Configuring the PCs

Overview
The instructions in this chapter will help you configure each of your computers to be able to communicate with
the Router.
To do this, you need to configure your PC’s network settings to obtain an IP (or TCP/IP) address automatically, so
your PC can function as a DHCP client. Computers use IP addresses to communicate with the Router and each
other across a network, such as the Internet.
First, find out which Windows operating system your computer is running. You can find out by clicking the Start
button. Read the side panel of the Start menu to find out which operating system your PC is running.
You may need to do this for each computer you are connecting to the Router.
The next few pages tell you, step by step, how to configure your network settings based on the type of Windows
operating system you are using. Make sure that an Ethernet or wireless adapter (also known as a network
adapter) has been successfully installed in each PC you will configure.

Configuring Windows 98 and Millennium PCs

1. Click the Start button. Select Settings and click the Control Panel icon. Double-click the Network icon.
2. On the Configuration tab, select the TCP/IP line for the applicable Ethernet adapter.9641e30.jpg
Do not choose a TCP/IP entry whose name mentions DUN, PPPoE, VPN, or AOL. If the word TCP/IP appears by
itself, select that line. Click the Properties button.

4. Now click the Gateway tab, and verify that the Installed Gateway field is blank. Click the OK button.
5. Click the OK button again. Windows may ask you for the original Windows installation disk or additional files.
Check for the files at c:\windows\options\cabs, or insert your Windows CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and
check the correct file location, e.g., D:\win98, D:\win9x, etc. (if “D” is the letter of your CD-ROM drive).
6. Windows may ask you to restart your PC. Click the Yes button. If Windows does not ask you to restart, restart
your computer anyway.

Configuring Windows 2000 PCs

1. Click the Start button. Select Settings and click the Control Panel icon. Double-click the Network and Dialup
Connections icon.
2. Select the Local Area Connection icon for the applicable Ethernet adapter (usually it is the first Local Area

Can't connect to the internet


I've never seen that, so I'd go so far as to say it's a hardware issue, ie, you have a bad nic card.

Try this, though: From device manager, with the laptop wired, disable the ethernet adapter. Then reenable it. See if that corrects it. Sometimes, all it needs is a reset (the port). I've seen that fix many a problem. Also, if you have a firewire port showing up in Network Connections (IEEE 1394), disable that (again, in Network Connections). If none of that works, I'd try buying a PCMCIA NIC or maybe a usb one.

Network Connection


First off, the 1394 connection is a firewire connetion. Firewire is a less popular and slower alternative to USB 2.0 connections. Disregard that in respect to your internet connection. Now in regards to your desktop internet connection.... -Go to the control panel, select network connections, then local area connection. -Right click and select properties -Under the general tab scroll down to Internet protocal (tcp/ip) Make sure the settings are set to automatically obtain an IP address. If they are and still are not working you can try to manually assign an IP address yourself. The laptops ip address might be something like 192.168.1.2 so whatever your laptop ip address is make the desktop 1 number higher in the last field (192.168.1.3 for example). Don't change any numbers other than the last field. You can find out the other information like subnet mask and default gateway by using the laptop. On the laptop go to the start menu, hit run. Then type in cmd, this will bring up a dos prompt. Then finally type IPCONFIG . Listed will be the laptops active internet connections and it's IP addresses. Copy over the subnet mask IP address and the default gateway address into the desktop and like in the previous step just manually assign the desktop a different IP address 1 number higher than the laptop. If the dns server's address isn't listed on the laptop a quick call to your dsl provider will solve that question.
