Question about Compaq Audio card Sound Card

I recently got my computer fix but it came back with no audio.

I run windows XP.
Computer type: Dimension e521 (Dell)

Hi had same with problem with my sound ,did not have sound driver in system. loaded realtek driver then it worked

Hi,


Did you check that compatible driver for your audio device is installed Properly? Go to Device Manager and verify. if there is yellow marked device error with name of Audio/Sound you need to update this driver.

Download and install/update this driver, reboot your system and check audio output. Hope this will work for you.

Audio install


I would say that your system should run it. Depending on what version you are trying to run, you exceed the minimum requirements (For processor).

If your able to get it up and running I may suggest that you change the acceptance for Rosetta in your firewall (Assuming that you have one running). It could be the reason that you cannot activate.

Try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents,music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

I have a Dell Dimension E521 desktop computer. When I try to turn it on the button just flashes green but it does not come on at all. What might be the cause and is it something major to fix?


Blinking Green power button indicates the computer is in a Windows® Standby power-saving state. Do any LED error codes display on the front? They are located next to the 2 USB ports on front.

Go back to a previous date when your computer was booting smoothly . Use System restore for this : go to start , type restore in the search bar and select system restore .
Maybe there is a malware infection somewhere in your system : download and run MalwareBytes from
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html and scan your pc .
Once done , create an image of your entire system , it's easy under Windows 7 : go to start type backup
in the seach bar and select back up entire system . At the end of the operation , click Yes to create a System Repair Disc . Do this regularly , every time you made significient changes or saved new important data on your machine .
There is of course another option easy and radical if you own the Win 7 install disc : install a new fresh version of Win 7 but save all needed data before proceeding !

If it is a windows Xp machine or vista you can bring up the task manager and click processes and look for any unwanted processes,By the way what is the amount of RAM do u have
By the look of your issue I guess it might be an Virus infection so please let me know if you have any antivirus software installed and provide me with the list of all the running process to trouble shoot more

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, thesupport download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop,better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages,the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operatingsystem. Windows Vista won't load after a full factory restore on my dell dimension e521 ?


Go into your BIO's at startup and set it to load from the CD-Rom only. Then drop the Vista disk in the CD-Rom and restart the computer. After it loads you will need to go back into the BIO's and set it back to where it was before you made this change.
