Re: screen not showing anything

Some time the system will work due to insufficient power source this problem may occur replace SMPS and check the CPU heat by touching it. If it warm then the CPU is functioning. Else contact your nearest hardware vendor.

Hope this will solve your problem.

Hello can i connect 2 fans to the motherboard? 1 is at the rear,,can the other 1 go anywhere else with 3 pin connectivity??

Hi, this link will show you the manual to your Motherboard, Page 12 section 1.4 Motherboard Layout. this page will show the layout and you may need to zoom in to see it clearer, there is No.5 CPU Fan Connector (CPU_FAN1) next to the CPU slot and there only seems to be 1 more Fan connection No.15 Chassis Fan Connector (CHA_FAN1), this seems to be the only additional fan connection, normally you would connect a side door/panel fan, the rear fan connections direct to the PSU.

Asrock ge pro-m2 whats the best spec i can upgrade to?

According to the downloadable manual on the manufacturer's web-site:

the maximum RAM supported is 2GB, and it is a Socket 478 CPU interface.

Since you don't have the "GE PRO-HT" motherboard,
you cannot use a "hyper-threading" CPU.
So, you can use any non-hyper-threading Pentium/Celeron that has a Socket 478 interface.

Computer sounds like its on but no display

Remove all plug-in cards including the memory and clean the contact points with a pencil eraser... Insert them back and try... You should hear 2 short beeps, which means Okey... Long beep means that there is a problem with the memory or one of the memory... Keep me posted if not solved...

Happy Fixya...

If the CPU is dead the problems can be
  1. no power
  2. no fans etc or
  3. power, no beeps (errors)
If the Ram is not compatible it would be constant beeping.

With the board in, and power supply 20pin + 4pin Pent 4 power attached,(#2 and #7 of motherboard layout) remove power cord from power supply.
CLRCMOS0 allows you to clear the data in CMOS. The data in CMOS includes
system setup information such as system password, date, time, and system
setup parameters. To clear and reset the system parameters to default setup,
please turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power
supply. After waiting for 15 seconds, use a jumper cap to short 2 pins on
CLRCMOS0 for 5 seconds. Remove the jumper. Remove heatsink and fan from CPU. disconnect cpu and reseat it. Re-install heatsink and fan. Plug in the power cord. Try to boot up. If it still does not boot and (no power, no fans etc.) problem would then be cpu is fried.

I always suggest this and many times I get yelled at, but I'm just trying to help...

Did you plug in both power cords? There are two, one is rectangular and one is a smaller square shaped connector.

If that's not it and you've tried pulling all the cards and devices (RAM, HDD, CD/DVD) then you most likely have a bad motherboard.

Good luck.
