Question about ASUS Eee 4G Notebook

Can't get wireless to connect

I run the simple wireless wizard, but the connection just sits on "pending" and never completes. My iTouch and other laptop are connected fine, but the EeePC just won't connect. What am I missing?

Depending on your OS, you could check the device mang. and if your 802.b wireless is not found, look for other flags or problems.
Turn off your wireless switch and remove and re-install your network system.
If after completed, you do not see the wireless install when loading, remove the wireless card and try again, removing from device mamg., re-booting and re-installing wireless card.
Sometimes the wireless card looses connection and needs to be physically removed, system re-booted and re-installed to work.
If that does not work, try exchanging the wireless card for another.
Removing the entire network from the system and re-booting is the best way. Shoot down after re-booting and re-install wireless card.
Restart unit, if it see's the wireless card, it will show loading network device. If it does not see the card, it will not load it.
Hope this helps

Itouch can't see my network

Not that I am aware of , but you signal strength will degrade if all the devices are on and using at once. Also your ISP MAY "throttle" your service/signal with high data usage. That said, Your iTouch and xBox, in the setting , wireless, the iTouch should see the signal, Is the wireless turned on? It's discoverable? If your wirell has a Password, has a setup box on the iTouch asked for the password? Use the Manuals for the devices to troubleshoot connections.

How to instal

Hi,
You'll wanna check out: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WNR1000_SM_WW_23Jan09.pdf
Look for "installation"..
To help you set up your router and get on the Internet quickly, the Resource CD contains a Smart Wizard™ Installation Assistant. The Installation Assistant walks you through the steps required to connect your router, modem, and PC(s); configure your wireless settings; and enable wireless security for your network. When you have finished, you will be Internet ready!
You can set up your wireless router using one of two methods:
• Smart Wizard Setup: The Smart Wizard Installation Assistant setup is available on your Resource CD. See "Installing Your Router Using the Smart Wizard" on page 9 to use the Smart Wizard Installation Assistant.
- This is the easiest option. The wizard guides you through the setup process. It automates many of the steps and verifies that the steps have been successfully completed.
- Smart Wizard requires a PC running Microsoft Windows.
• Manual Setup: If you cannot or prefer not to use the Smart Wizard Installation Assistant, see "Manually Installing Your Router" on page 13. For example, if you are connecting to a Mac, are using a Linux operating system, or are technically knowledgeable, select this option. If you choose to use this option and install your router manually, for best results, install and set up your router in this order:
Failure to follow these guidelines can result in significant performance degradation or an inability to wirelessly connect to the Internet.
NETGEAR does not recommend or support adding a NETGEAR router behind another router, or replacing a gateway with a a NETGEAR router.
If you have a Macintosh or Linux system, you must use the manual installation method (see "Manually Installing Your Router" on page 13).Getting to Know Your Wireless Router 7
1. Install and connect your wireless router to your network (see "Connecting Your Wireless Router" on page 14).
2. Set up your wireless router for Internet access (see "Setting Up Your Router for Internet Access" on page 18).
3. Configure your wireless network and select wireless security settings to protect your wireless network (see "Configuring Your Wireless Network" on page 21)

Computer will not connect

I think I have experienced the same problem. ITouch does not have the same wireless security options as the wireless router does. What you need to do is to find what wireless security options the ITouch has and then set the wireless security on the router to an option the ITouch has. The reason it does not save is that it is detecting that there is a problem, it's stupid and thinks it is just the password that is the problem.

Hope that helps. You might get a better answer if you are able to provide better detail as in what wireless security you are using on both devices

Keyboard has stopped working. have replaced batteries, tried to reconnect wireless channel and still nothing. I then rebooted and still nothing. Is is time to give up? Also, a side note the keyboard...

I have had the same problems on an XP configuration. You need to completely uninstall the Logitech drivers and first connect a wired keyboard.
Then reboot and follow the installation instructions for the Logitech keyboard/mouse combi. This probably means running the installer and then connecting the USB device.
It can actually take a few reboots before everything works, very annoying stuff.

My itouch won't connect to my wireless network

This happened to me as well. Turned out the iPod touch doesn't support WEP encryption properly, and sometimes can't log onto those networks.

If your network is WEP-encrypted, try changing it to WPA.

I would turn your itouch on and tap the top bar where the battery and signal show.
a screen will pop down and show your wireless connection. tap it ans check your settings.
make sure you renew lease on your wireless and use the wep code which is on the label of your wireless router.
you should have signal now

good luck

Connect itouch to internet

From what it sounds like, you are working in a Windows environment. What you are trying to do is bridge your wireless ad-hoc network with your wired network connection. Windows does not support this method of connection even though they have the option for "allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection". That would only work if you had two ethernet cards in your system, and that option bridges one ethernet port with the other. It doesn't support bridging to your wireless adapter.
Most laptop wireless cards do not support an "infrastructure" mode, which would turn your notebook into a mobile router. Instead they create an ad-hoc network completely separate from your wired network. There are some commercial pieces of software that can bridge the two, though I've never been able to make them work.
The easiest route would be to go to Target or a local electronic store and pick up a wireless router. You would take the ethernet connection from your laptop and attach it to the router. Then your laptop and iPod would both connect to the internet through the router.
