Hi,
I've the same problem this moment
exactly same as sandman describes.

Power (green light) still on.

Several attempts on / off and restarts didn't work out
Display shows about 2 seconds output and goes down again
All normal PC functions are displayed in that 2 seconds
Playing with the monitor buttons didn't work out

Is there any solution yet?

indeed i have the same problem with the benq t705. Dead backlight or driving hardware. when monitor is on and i shine a flashlight on it i can see some ooutput from the monitor. I have replaced a couple of caps because i thought they where dry (found this on this site somewhere aswell.) however this has not fixed the problem. Anyone have any other solutions. Is it possible that the tube itself is dead, after 1.5 years of use? What other electronic components is the backlight driver composed of?

thanks,
Wernher

I have the same problem. I've had this monitor for about 2 years. The monitor was working fine, then black.
I'm not a computer tech, but I will try to fix it. Just wondering Tom, how to fix the blackligfht, and where to purchase this light?
Thanks in advance.

it isn't the backlight. I took mine apart and found the power supply board to have 4 fried IC chips (discolored, brown). A bad backlight usually shows symptoms before it goes out ( half the screen is displayed, screen dims over time...) BenQ is just made with sh*tty parts and I found out the hard way because those theives to my cash for this garbage monitor. I'm sticking with the reputable brands from now on... Please be advised taking apart your monitor will void the 3 year warranty. BUYER BEWARE with shady brands like benQ....

your monitor has a bad backlight.

That is a classic symptom of a bad LCD monitor.
