i think Benq is garbage brand

indeed i have the same problem with the benq t705. Dead backlight or driving hardware. when monitor is on and i shine a flashlight on it i can see some ooutput from the monitor. I have replaced a couple of caps because i thought they where dry (found this on this site somewhere aswell.) however this has not fixed the problem. Anyone have any other solutions. Is it possible that the tube itself is dead, after 1.5 years of use? What other electronic components is the backlight driver composed of?

I've the same problem this moment

    exactly same as sandman describes.

    Power (green light) still on.

Several attempts on / off and restarts didn't work out

Display shows about 2 seconds output and goes down again

All normal PC functions are displayed in that 2 seconds

Playing with the monitor buttons didn't work out

    Is there any solution yet?

I have the same problem. Out of the blue, the monitor went totally
blank. The standby light goes green when the computer is on and goes
orange when it is off, but no picture. BENQis a shitty brand and I'll
never buy it. To me it seems that they have set a flag to not work
after the warranty period is over.

After 3 years and 8 months of intensive use : sudden black screen failure.
    Symptoms :
    - Screen always black / blank (never blue).
    - Power (green light) still on.
    - Standby light goes green when the computer is on and goes orange when it is off.
    - Buttons does not display internal menu.

    Did not work out :
    - Several attempts on / off and restarts.
    - Unplugged then replugged cables.
    - Tried with another computer.

It isn't the backlight. I took mine apart and found the power supply board to have 4 fried IC chips (discolored, brown). A bad backlight usually shows symptoms before it goes out ( half the screen is displayed, screen dims over time...) BenQ is just made with sh*tty parts and I found out the hard way because those theives to my cash for this garbage monitor. I'm sticking with the reputable brands from now on... Please be advised taking apart your monitor will void the 3 year warranty. BUYER BEWARE with shady brands like benQ....

I have the same problem. I've had this monitor for about 2 years. The monitor was working fine, then black.
I'm not a computer tech, but I will try to fix it. Just wondering Tom, how to fix the blackligfht, and where to purchase this light?
Thanks in advance.

Blue screen error tried to start in safe mode now wont come on

This is most likely the power supply. It could be some other things but the power supply is the cheapest thing to try unless you have the right stuff to test everything. In reality, it was nothing that you did. The uninstall of the program did not cause this. Also you should check the unit to be sure that it is clean. Dust can build up inside and cause over heating.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

My hp pavilion a430n is not turning on. even though i pressed the power button the light wont even turn on. it is truly annoying and the screen says something about the power supply and green, red, blue...

I suggest to open your computer and unplug your power supply and look for the color green and black cord which plugged from your motherboard. Then find a piece of wire and short the color green and black wire to test if your power supply is working and plug to your power socket. And check your electronic parts (capacitor) near at your processor, it might your capacitor blown out.

Either your Hard drive (hd) crashed or your hd cable or port is faulty. if your software is corrupt boot with a boot disk (assume you are using XP or Vista), press R on the blue options screen. you will be given a black dos prompt screen. Type in fixboot and type Y for an answer.

Westinghouse LCM22W2 shows a display then turns off after half a second

I have the same problem and have traced it down to a potential power supply issue.  I bought mine at Best Buy in '06 and was told today that they will test the power supply for free.  It may range from $50.00 to $100.00 depending on where you can get it.  This does not include labor for those not qualified to work with electronics.  Hope this helps you.

Monitor suddenly goes black

Is this monitor and LCD flat Panel? If so this is due to a bad power supply, an inverter board going bad or LCD backlight bulb blown. When the backlight goes bad it gets just enough power to start up, but when it is on for a long period of time it goes black because the bulb is not stable enough to hold the charge because it is going bad. These bulbs can be changed, but they also can be costly!
