Is the compressor on as well? or just the fan, if the compressor is on and fan is on and it is blowing warm air it could be a charge (refrigerant problem)

Why is it blowing cold air?

A dehumidifier should blow cold air Carole. It takes in warm moist air, chills it, condenses the water out of the air and returns it chilled and dry to the room. That is the function of a dehumidifier. They often have the function of an air conditioner and blow cold air out of one outlet into the room and hot air out of the window via a venting hose. If yours is just a dehumidifier, it is working as designed

What were your expecting a dehumidifier to do?

How do you clean the filter

In order to look up the filter change procedure I would need the specific model number. However, filter changes or washing should be done regularly. Look for a very simple lift-out design that is washable in the kitchen or laundry sink. Soak in soapy water and rinse with spray nozzle.

As for the symptom "Blows out warm air" this is expected. The dehumidifier is less than 100% efficient, meaning that the energy that is used produces heat in the exhaust air. A 100% efficient design would still send all the heat energy of condensation (endothermic phase change) into the exhaust air. You should expect 1072 BTU per pint (1 pound of water). This is far more than the heat of crystallization (144 BTU per pound of ice) and therefore much more sensible when you feel the discharge air from the dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers typically operate in basements to both warm and dry the area where a sump pump may be operating to remove the water that seeps through the foundation. A dehumidifier is not a good idea for warm areas of the house. This will decrease the efficiency by increasing the temperature differential needed to get the evaporator coil below the dew point to cause condensation. The condenser coil will be much hotter than expected if the unit is operated in a warm humid room. Only air conditioners which discharge condensate and exhaust air to the outside of the structure should be used to cool a room.

Using as heater and unit is blowing cold air

A heat pump is an air conditioner that reverses its refrigerant flow. In the cooling mode, the evaporator is cold to the room and its condenser is hot. In the heating mode, a valve reverses the refrigerant flow and makes the evaporator warm and the condenser cold.

My dehumidier blows very hot air while working. Makes it hotter than it was before starting. Like a furnace.

It is normal for a dehumidifier to discharge warm air. A dehumidifier is really an air conditioner - a fan blows humid room air across a cold fin coil that causes the moisture to condense on it and drip into a container - thus cooling AND dehumidifying the air. The cool air is blown over the warm coil and discharged out the back. A dehumidifier WILL normally increase the temperature of the room it is in.
You can do the same thing with sitting an A/C unit on a stool in a room. Room air will be drawn in, cold air will come out the front, hot air out the back and water will drip on the floor. And, the room will get hotter, due to what is called "heat of compression" even though you're running an A/C unit.

My delonghi dehumidifier will not cool the house just keeps blowing warm air and dosnt feel to cool were thinking about giving up on it

Dehumidifiers aren't supposed to cool your house. If anything they generate heat. How it works is, it has cooling coils that it draws air across, which causes the moisture to condense, and be captured. However the heat extracted from the air has to go somewhere, so it just blows out the other side. If you want cool, buy an air conditioner.

No water collected

check to see if the fan is blowing across the condenser. there should be warm air blowing out the back. if there isn't, the fan may need to be replaced so the heat exchanger can cool down. may be running too hot. also check the condenser in the front to see if the air flow is blocked with dust. if so, change the filter if it has one. if there is cool air blowing, the compressor may not be turning on.

MY dehumdifier is blowing warm air ,Is there a fitler that needs to be cleaned and how is this done ? Model 3fdl5051 50pints

It's not unusual for a dehumidifier to blow warm air. As it may be in defrost mode. Even so, they still blow warm air.

The model number you furnished is slightly helpful. Knowing what brand it is, would be even better.

Never-the-less, the filter should be located behind the front louvers of the unit. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder, just behind the front louvers. You may see a plastic pull tab handle. If so, that's the filter frame. Pull it straight down and out.

If you didn't find it there, look on the right hand side of the unit, just behind the louvers for what looks like a a flip open door. If you see that, flip the door open and remove the filter.

The filter can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner or if it's really dirty, wash it in warm water and dish washing liquid. Thoroughly rinse and allow to completely dry, before reinstalling it. NEVER operate the unit without the filter in place.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

The dehumidifier is blow cold air

Is it collecting water? The air coming out the back top half should be cool/warm. It will be a little warmer at the bottom near the compressor.
