How do I fix Damaged NSF file?

The process you go through to try and fix a corrupted NSF file is to run the sequence of fixup, compact and then updall.
To do this go to the console and run the following commands:
LOAD FIXUP database (Remembering to add -J switch if transactional Logging is on)
When this has finished then:
LOAD COMPACT database (you may need to add a switch here depending on your system config i.e. -B), and finally:
LOAD UPDALL Database (Usually with -r switch).
If you find that this does not solve the problem, then try running these commands from a DOS Command line without the Domino Server running - it can sometimes be more thorough.
The switches can all be found in the help file. If this does not help, then try to restore the file using the Lotus Notes Repair Kit tool.
Good Luck.

How to avoid network downtime and what are the top reasons for this?

Let's see what are the most common causes of network downtime, and what can be done about them?

Issue: Hardware single points of failure
Solution: Try to minimize single points of failure. When they're unavoidable, make sure broken hardware can be replaced quickly.
If it's impossible to connect servers to multiple switches, be able to replace a broken switch with another one that has an identical configuration. So either use those switches in their default port/VLAN configuration, or set up a spare switch with an appropriate basic configuration in advance so simply replacing the hardware is enough to restore connectivity.

Issue: Routing protocol problems
Sometimes, for some reason, the packets are lost, but the BGP doesn't notice that there's a problem, so traffic is flowing towards the black hole rather than be rerouted.
Solution: One way to detect this problem is to monitor reachability of key remote services. Another is looking at total traffic, which will be much lower than usual in the presence of a black hole. Once detected, recovering from routing black hole affecting one ISP is very simple: shut down the BGP session towards that ISP until they've fixed the problem.

Issue: Routing problems caused by software bugs
Solution: It is useful to have equipment from different vendors, so that if one device is affected by a bug, the other one isn't.

Issue: Power supply problems
Solution: Having some kind of backup power is key. Also all network components must have redundant power supplies connected to different circuits, so they can keep running when there's a failure or maintenance on one feed. Make sure one circuit can provide adequate power by itself, and that the circuits have as few components in common as possible. If it is not possible to ensure redundant power supply, it's important to have two components that provide backup for each other connected to different power circuits, so if one circuit goes down, that doesn't take out both devices.

Hi, the ethernet port located in the back of my computer appears to be faulty. I am unable to connect to a modem/router successfully due to this problem, also my USB ports don't appear to be working. Can...

If your lan card is faukty then you have to replace the LAN card. But as regards the USB ports not functioning the best thing to do is to install the usb drivers for your PC. When you install the USB port drivers for the PC the PC will be able to accept plug and play USB internet modems.
The drivers for your usb port can be located when you go to device manager select USB ports and it will take you to the drivers for the ports.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

I have a Control 4 system. While playing CD's, the TV screen flashes "no signal" and the music will eventually stop. I was told to press the "fn" and "f4" key on the computer to switch itover, but it isn't...

If i understand you right, you are playing your CD from your computer. If this is correct, you should burn your cd's into MP3 format with windows media center. Then let you Control 4 system get your music through your network.(you will need to call your Control4 dealer to setup this.) You should use a network hard drive to save you music to. but it can be done with only your computer. If you use your computer you need to make sure that your computer stays on, so turn off the screen saver and your power standby and hibernate options.

I hope this helps. If you live in Utah, I work for a control 4 dealer in Draper. If you have any more questions, e-mail me at you could also visit a end user control4 site at

HP LTO Drive Firmware Revs For Veritas 9.1

The problem you described is not a driver problem. So long as you are using the Veritas drivers you should be good to go.
SCSI time-outs and disconnects are hardware problems.

Sometimes they can be resolved by changing the throughput settings on the SCSI controller connected to the drive. Controllers usually default to very high speeds because they are used for hard drives. Lowering the speeds to support the slower throughput of tape drives can sometimes help.

During the POST there should be a key combination you can press to access the setup for the controller and modify the throughput settings.

Aside from that you have to replace the SCSI controller or tape drive until you figure out which one is causing the problem. Maybe the SCSI card is not seated properly.

I hope this helps.
