Question about Sony Video Game Consoles & Games

1 Answer

This is a Sony created problem via their updates. They are systematically taking down each and every console to get the repair money. I never had a single problem until the last 2.80 update and now it freezes on everything except DVD. I smell a consumer lawsuit brewing.

You cannot remove updates on the PS3. You should know that.

If you are sure its the update, you could just remove it. Doubt its Sony though as my PS2, PS3 and PSP are all working fine and all have the most recent updates.

Ps3 system update error 8002F310

1. Download the update onto a USB stick using your pc. (Hopefully you have one). Create a new folder named UPDATE and drag the file into it. Then create a folder called PS3 and drag the 'UPDATE' folder into that. Note the folders must be in capitals.....
2. Underneath your console is a small panel near the front that pops open to reveal a small screw. Unscrew it and then remove a bigger panel on the actually front of the console to reveal the hard drive. It has a wire handle that will help you remove the hard drive. (Don't take it out yet)
3. Turn your console on and when the update loop begins take the hard drive out. After a minute or so it will realise this has happened and a error message will appear and a 60 second countdown will start. Let this time countdown and allow the console to restart. ( a post a read on a forum said that the console will restart on a screen that will allow you to download the update via USB but is did not happen for me and the system said it was unable to start because it could not detect a hard drive.)
4. Turn the console totally off and insert the hard drive. Turn it back on and as it is beginning to start carefully take the hard drive back out. Then a screen will hopefully appear that says to connect your controller to the USB wire and press the ps button. Do this and then it will give you the option to update via USB. Insert your USB drive and press start and select on your controller.
5. Then comes a step that I can't really explain and is the trial and error part of the process. When the system is searching for the USB update I inserted the hard drive. On the first try it didn't find the update and a error message appeared, but as I tried the whole process again it found the update and completely the process. I didn't lose any saves and more importantly, didn't pay a penny!!

How do I update my psp console?

If you have internet on your psp goto the left all the way and then go all the way up and there should be a update icon in your settings icon.

If this does not work you can download the update via sony's website and put it onto you memory card via usb from the computer and then update that way.

If you found this awnser useful please give a thumbs up or even better write a Testimonial.

1. Create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data.
Using a PC, create a folder named "PS3" on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named "UPDATE".
2. Download the update data and save it in the UPDATE folder created in step 1.
3. Pop this into your ps3 and choose to update via that.

It gets to 99% then stops loading the update

Depending on the type and exact model of the console, it is allowed to act that way on some systems. This is because the console is actually processing the last set of data that makes up the major part of the update process. As a result of this, the console takes a long time since it has to undertake more processes at this point.
All you have to do is to wait for a maximum of 10 minutes and see if there is any change or difference.
If after ten minutes, the console still doesn't work well, you would have to end the update and format the console and do the update again. Below is the instruction on how to format the console.
Be sure to backup your settings/games saves by doing a System > Backup on your PS3 or you may lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to sony.
1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.
2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.
3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn't detected after initial reset).
4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup).
Hope this was helpful? Please comment for more information and thank you for using Fixya.

Unable to down load latest update ,to be able to get on line .....version3.41.... runs really slowly an gets to 8% an then comes up fault has occured ...tried conection test and both ip address an...

If I were you I would download the update on your PC or laptop and place the file on a USB memory stick. Create a directory on the memory stick call PS3 and then inside that directory create a new directory called UPDATE. Place the PS3UPDAT.PUP file in that new directory called UPDATE. Now go back to your PS3 and go to settings, scroll all the way up the top and select system update. The next screen asks you to either update via internet or removal storage. Select removable storage and the PS3 will then update off of your memory stick.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

I Keep Receiving Error 80029C77 When I Try The Latest Update For MyPS3

I received this today and first I downloaded the update via the web on your computer to a USB flash drive. Once downloaded create the folders PS3 and the folder UPDATE within PS3. PS3\UPDATE. Move downloaded file into the UPDATE folder. (folders must be in CAPS). Then when the unit is off press and hold the power button until it beeps 3 times. A menu should come up on the screen. Select the option that states update system software (I believe its 6). The unit will update via the flash drive. After that the unit will restart and should be updated and working.

When i put a bluray dvd on my ps3 it said i need a encryption key

Create a folder on a CD or USB Thumb drive and name it PS3. within the PS3 folder, create a folder named UPDATE . Download the update and save it in the UPDATE folder. You can get the latest update via the following site:
Be sure to save the update in the UPDATE folder (this IS case sensitive by the way) or the PS3 will not recognize the update data.
Insert your disc or usb thumb drive and go to settings, then system update at the top, then press x. Select 'update via storage media' and start the update. once completed, your system will reboot and you will be good to go.
