Question about Philips 9P5034C 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Too much red.

Mine has too much red in it and the more I take out the darker the screen gets. Just can't seem to get the color balanced.

I have a philips magnavox and had two problems that I recently fixed using kits from www.TvRepairKits.com. I can't say enough about their kits and help. Without them I would have never been able to fix my TV set myself.

The first problem I had was the TV was looking 3D. After doing some homework I found out that this is a convergence problem. I bought a kit, followed the instructions, and to my amazement fixed it myself.

After building my confidence with the 1st repair I decided to get their CRT fluid kit. This kit fixes the dull video, red video, or bright/halo looking video. If you have a magmavox set that is more than 5 years old your tv has this problem already. It happens on every set. As before I bought the kit, followed the instructions, and now my video looks factory new. Once again I wanted to say thanks to the team at Tv Repair Kits for putting together kits that the average joe can use.

Someone pressed 'a button' on the remote - now there is no yellow on the screen - yikes - lots of red and green! How do I fix this?

Go to the menu screen and look for picture options and then look for color or Hue on the menu, this will allow you to change the hue and correct the color balance. I have a Sony and there is a yellow button on mine and it changes the settings to what they call Cinama scene and when I press this it makes the picture darker and more yello. Mine is a Sony and yours may be different.

Will not show red color in picture, magic focus shows red though

You have a projection light element out. I had the green element go on mine. I had a service agreement so a repair tech changed it.

Color adjust

Greetings!

Adjusting the picture tubes is a scary proposition, but since you have already done it...
The easiest way to balance the gray scale is to turn the color all the way down on the set. The next part is easier with two people if the screen controls are on the back of the set. This is the part you saw that has six small knobs on it. There are control for the focus of the red, gree and blue and for the screen level of the red, green and blue. You will want to adjust the screen controls in an effort to get the picture black and white (this is why you turn the color down), hence the term "gray scale". Just make slight adjustments, take your and be patient. It will take some time, but you will get your picture balanced back out in time.

Hope this helps!

My screen has gotten much darker

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.
