Question about ATI RADEON 9000 Graphic Card

I do not see the Display when I click monitor

I was able to use s-video and see my laptop monitor on tv. I had to re-install windows xp home edition. After that I did not have any drivers, I downloaded drivers from internet. Now everything in the computer works except that i can not see laptop monitor on tv.
I go to properties - settings-advanced-monitor
then it shows monitor type and refresh (60 Hz).
in the past i used to see many tabs one of those tab contained DISPLAY.
From DISPLAY I could turn ON TV and watch laptop on tv. Not any more.
I guess I downloaded a very old version driver?
Can any one suggest me any what to do.
If it is due to a drivere, could anyone suggest me a driver?
Thanks
zaid

Hi i just formatted my Compaq nc6000 and installed windows xp. i tried to use an external monitor and what i see is only the screen saver on the external monitor. what do i do?

Assuming you have the proper video driver installed on your system after the reinstall, you should have the options to cycle through video output modes. On a Compaq nx6110, the keys to do this are Fn+F4. The F4 key has a symbol on it that looks like a large box with a smaller box inside that has vertical lines on both sides of it. Look for that symbol on your keyboard in case it's on a different key, or it may even say something like LCD/TV, which does the same thing. Press that key combination to cycle through the options. Normally those options are: laptop only, TV only, or laptop and TV, not necessarily in that order. If you get it so that you can see it on both, then you should look at the display settings on the laptop and make sure mirroring is turned on. Normally you can find this by right-clicking an open spot on the Desktop, then looking for either Graphic Options or Graphic Properties. If you don't see either of those go into Properties. From there look through your settings and try to find one that controls display cloning or mirroring, which is what would cause your laptop to output the same thing to an external display.

Make sure you have the right cables from the other monitor/tv

To access dual monitor setup:

1. Right click on your desktop screen
2. Select Properties
3. Click the Settings Tab
4. Click No.2 Screen
5. Click extend my windows desktop onto this monitor
6. Click apply
7. Click ok

Hope this helps

I get an "Out of Frequency" error message when I try to run a DOS based program in Windows XP Home Edition. Is this an OS problem or is something else blocking the program? (the program works on our other...

The application is trying to control the video-card, setting a resolution, e.g., 800-by-60, and a refresh rate, e.g., 72 Mhz, that your monitor does not support. So, your monitor displays "out of frequency".

Click with the second (usually the right) mouse-button on the icon, and choose "Properties", and force the video-resolution to a supported value.

Problem installation video card

Hello Virna, i have that exact graphics card and dell GX270 desktop here at home, tho it has been awhile since i removed the Nvidia PCI card for a more favorable AGP card. From what i remember, first check your BIOS (hit F2 on startup) and select integrated devices, scroll down and make sure your default video output is either PCI (if available) or AUTO) exit saving changes. If that yields no result. Plug in a second monitor to your old integrated video output, if you can view windows after bootup from there, then you can install the proper Nvidia display driver for windows Xp (available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.19_whql.html ). After installing, right click on the desktop, select properties, display settings tab, and make sure the Geforce card is the main monitor and the desktop monitor. Click apply, unplug the integrated VGA output, and restart. Hope this helps.

TRying to get my PC to TV converter up and running

I just purchased the Kworld 1600 PC to TV Game Box today. I also had the same problem as many others seem to have had. The TV screen displayed only colored bars. After searching on line for troubleshooting ideas I finally was able to correct the problem, thanks to help of people responding to these problems on "FixYa", and I thank you, as I was ready to return the product at a loss of 15% of the cost (restocking fee).
I am using a Toshiba Satelite L350D with Vista Home Premium and a 2005-32"JVC TV.

First ensure that the Monitor Y-cable supplied has been properly installed to your PC and your TV (my first mistake). Each plug is individually identified, that being, TV, monitor, scan cnvtr.
Second, on Vista go to Control Panel, open (Double left click) the personalization icon. You can then open your display settings.click on advanced settings, this will open a window for your graphics card. Click on "List All Modes", use an 800 x 600 High Color Mode, 16 bit, 59 or 60 hertz, hit 'OK' and that window will close. Then hit 'Apply' in the Graphics Card window(the screen will go black and then set itself to the new mode). You may have to try a few different 800 x 600 modes to find the best one for your TV.
Thirdly this converter is only for video, not audio.
For audio you must use a 1/8 stereo plug from your PC headphone jack to an RCA adapter into the Left and Right Audio Input of your TV.
Make sure you are using the same Video Input Section for both your audio and video (Video1, Video2, Video3, you cannot plug the video into Video1 and the audio into Video2).

After setting this converter up on my Laptop I was also able to plug it into my 7+ year old desktop (Cicero P4, XP Home Edition).
I hope grouping these 3 problems into 1 will help others and save them some time and frustration.
Thanks again to everyone on "FixYa" for their help.

S-video output

Hi

Normally, you can use the Fn+F8 keyboard shortcut to switch the video image to the display only, the display and
external monitor simultaneously, or the external monitor only. Unfortunately, the Fn+F8 only works with the VGA
external monitors, not with composite/S-video monitors on Latitude C610

I have not tested this but give it a try. It should work if you have correct Video drivers (Manufacture drivers and
not Microsoft drivers) installed.

In Windows XP:
Right click Desktop and choose Properties,
Click the Settings tab, and click Advanced
-or-
Go to Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes.
Under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Display.
Click the Settings tab, and click Advanced.

Click the Displays tab.
Click the upper-left corner of the TV button to enable the TV.
Click OK.

Video driver loading problem after clean XP home install

Are you sure that you are installing the proper driver, I mean are u installing the driver for windows xp? If you are not able to install in the proper manner. Do like this Right Click on My Computer>Manage>Device Manager>Display Adapters. If an yellow exclamation mark is shown then it means that you have not installed the driver and if its not showing any confilct (yellow exclamation mark)then you have already intalled the driver and your video card is also working perfectly. And the problem could be something else. If confilct(yellow exclamation mark) exits.. Do like this. Right Click on the exclamation mark>Update driver>Not at this time> Install from a specified location>make sure u have checked "search removable media..." and make sure that u have put the driver cd in the cdrom and click next. If you have put the correct CD then windows will automatically install the driver for your laptop. During the installation if system shows a message "This driver is not digitally signed..." Click continue anyway. If none of the above things work. Download the latest drivers from the net. -ShaC
