My minolta dimage Z1 is not reading it's memory card

My camera is a Konica Minolta Dimage Z1 and will not read any memory card that we have inserted into the camera. We have tried cleaning the memory slot and checking the card so that it is not locked. Any other ideas?

the memory card(s) are all SD. Is there any other option except taking it to be serviced. I know that the camera is old but I still get great pictures with it.

It may be that the memory card is damaged. How long have you been using it?

Lets try to isolate the problem.

First for the memory card, try removing the memory card and place it in another camera? or a card reader perhaps?

Do you have a spare memory card? Try also to install it in your camera. We want to make sure the camera is also working fine.

Have you tried replacing the existing SD with a spare?

You said you have several memory SDs. Try replacing the existing one with the other.

If the problem still exist, then im afraid there might be a problem with your camera.

One way to check if the problem is with your camera is when you try those SD memories to another camera. If they were able to read, then the problem really is with your minolta dimage z1.

As long as they are not the SDHC cards those are not compatible. I believe this unit holds up to a 2GB card. If that doesn't work you will need to have the camera serviced. Unfortunately Konica Minolta stopped making cameras in 2006. Sony continues to support them. You can go here to start the repair process.

Hi

I believe you are using SD CARD. Please take out your memory card from the camera. On the Memory Card there's switch to lock and unlock on the memory card. Just unlock it, and put back your memory card.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Dimage camera unable to use card

What type and size memory card are you trying to use? The Z1 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher capacity SDHC cards, even though they fit into the slot.

I have a Konica minolta with 512 MB memory. How much more memory of SDhc/SD card can it use as it is unable to use 4GB SDHC card. Thanks.

The Z1 uses SD cards, which top out at 2GB. SDHC cards do not work with this camera, as you've already found out.

I bought 4GB SD card for minolta dimage Z1, but error comes UNABLE TO USE CARD....I read in the fourms that this camera does not support 4GB cards... right?

Your camera came out in 2003, before SDHC cards were invented. Chances are, the 4G card you're trying to use is not an SD but an SDHC card and won't work in your camera.

What size sd card can i use in a dimage z1

You may use any size SD card. Bear in mind that SD cards max out at 2GB. Larger cards are actually SDHC cards and won't work in the Z1.

Have a minolta Dimage 10X digital zoom 3.2 megapixel camera. When I turn the camera on it gives me the message can't read card.

Assuming this is an SD card, it may be that you are trying to use a high-capacity SDHC card in a camera which doesn't understand it. SDHC is not backwards compatible with SD.

A card with too large a memory may cause this message, even if it is a compatible type. Memory sizes have shot up recently, and even relatively young cameras may not be able to cope with the memories offered by the latest cards.

Another possibility is that the card (if new) has not been formatted, or (if used before) it may have become corrupted. The solution here is to format it, using the camera's inbuilt function for this purpose. This will effectively erase anything on the card, but it sounds like you have lost that anyway.
