SOURCE: mika aire remote fan

Not sure if this addresses your problem or not, but with my Minka Aire ceiling fans, the fan has to be moving in order to change the fan direction. Turn the fan on (any speed works), then push the reverse button. The fan will speed up to max, then you'll hear the gears switching. The fan will slow to a stop, change directions and get back up to speed in the new direction.

SOURCE: The Hampton Bay Altura Ceiling fan functions only with remote.

I contacted the manufacturer (kingofffans.com) after my Altura fan would run on high speed only and the remote would not control any thing. They said their was a manufacturing defect with a capacitor that affected many of the Altura fans. We are now on a waiting list for a new capacitor and housing, because they did not have enough replacement parts.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling fan remote 85095-01 stopped working

it also could be one of the the jumpers fell out of the remote
they are located just above the battery. you will need to match the placement of the jumpers with the receiver mounted in the fan.

If you had a dimmer switch in conjunction with the fan you probably did burn it up. You have to have motor controls that are compatible. It does take a few days to burn it up. More details please.

Remote controlled ceiling fans stopped working

My guess is that a neighbor close by, got a similar fan. This is common I understand. Other than that.....I can not think of a single thing! I say that even after 30+ years of working with electrical, and electronics.
