Re: Washer won't spin anymore

Was it getting loud in spin prior to this?
If so, based on past experience with this model, I would say you need at least a triple lip seal, belt and possibly a transmission.

How do you take off the front panel of lat2301aae. I think the belt may be bad.

I would be looking at the drive belt under the machine as that will be the only place to produce a rubber smell. If it is loose and by now destroyed you may have to replace it and adjust the tension.

It has gotten very loud and makes banging noise in spin cycle, now I have found hard plastic strips after wash and smells like burnt rubber.

Hello. Most likely the transmission has gone bad resulting in dislodging of the tub causing the plastic and the burnt rubber. This is probably not worth repairing unless it is under warranty and less than 3 years old. This is the perfect time to get an energy star washer which has a government rebate of 75 dollars. Joe

The machine made a slight squeek noise each time it slowed down and then started up again (durring the wash cycle) We also noticed a strange odor. It was almost a asbestos burning type of smell. Then later...

It probably mean the spin brake has failed. If everything else is functioning OK and it is not making anymore strange noises it will be OK however when you open the lid(during spin) if it takes more than 10 seconds to stop then the brake should be replaced. If you need anything else please let me know.

Washing Machine has burnt rubber smell

your problem is probably the coupling that ataches the motor to the transmission , take the skirt of the washer off , take the motor off and you going to see the rubber coupling if is bad just change it , cheap part

Washing machine was making noise when agitating & spinning

This sure sounds like a bad transmission. Turn the transmission by hand to feel and listen to it. It should be smooth and quiet.

Burnt rubber smell

the belt is broken. the machine wont spin or agitate with a broken belt. set the timer to spin and the water should still drain. but not spin. belts are very cheap but replacing on could be tricky if you dont know what your doing
