Question about Dometic CS-200 Wine Cooler

Dometic 2800 Works Great on AC but not at all on LP

Just got an older Motorhome with a Dometic 2800. Fridge works great on AC and the thermostat seems to respond just fine on AC. However when I switch to LP, the pilot will light just fine. I can see it when I look inside, but the burner never seems to fire. I worked the thermostat back and forth. Made sure that the line was getting proper pressure, and yes...also made sure my LP tank was full. Hmmmmmmm.....can't figure it out. If anyone can lend an assist i would greatly appreciate it.

SOURCE: Dometic RM 2800 Works great on AC but not on LP

You say that on LP the pilot lights and you can see it. You don't have a pilot on that fridge. If there is ignition and you see a flame under stack, that is the burner. It certainly will not be a big flame as you would expect to see in a furnace, only a small flame approx. 1" high x 1" wide, from burner tube, and should be centered under the tube/stack/chimney, whatever you want to call it.

I just replaced the converter in my motorhome and everything works but the fridge won't work on house electricity, only gas ???

Hello,

The old converter may have blown out the control board for your 'fridge. This is quite common if the voltage exceeds 15.5 volts, and when there is a ripple voltage (AC voltage component) riding on top of the DC voltage.

Gas / LP mode is the default for this fridge, a fail safe mode.

You can find the service manual for your fridge here.

My unit works great on AC (cools to 30degree), but

Your fridge has two manual settings to adjust it's internal temperature. Obviously, it most likely has a standard control (1-5 or 1-9 depending on the fridge) that you can adjust on the control panel. Some fridges are preset (no control panel adjustment) and must be adjusted on the inside of the unit. If open your fridge, look at your cooling fins. You will notice a metal slider on a wire attached to one of the fins. Moving this sensor up or down along this fin will set the internal temperature of the fridge. You will have to play with it a bit to get it set properly (with a thermometer), but you should be able to get it to the proper temperature. I hope this solves your problem. Thanks... John Charles

I need to find a cycling thermostat for a Dometic Roof top unit

I ran across the same problem and found the kit to expensive. I gutted the parts added a transformer, contactor and thermostat. Unit worked great and cost about half the price.

Most likely cause is a blocked gas jet in the main burner its rare for the thermostat to be faulty but you cant dismiss it

I have a Dometic fridg in my 2005 motorhome and when I start my f

You need to unpush the gas button on the front control. If the gas button is pushed in, then it is trying to run on gas and with the tank empty, it is unable to light. That is why the check light is coming on. If you turn the gas side off and have it on auto, it should switch to the AC side and work fine.

Hope this helps,

Jeff
