If you are talking about small red/green/blue articles in your image, then these are noise articles caused by shooting in dark environments and high ISO

If you are talking about large streaks of color, then you may be shooting at low shutter speeds causing moving objects to streak.

For both instances, shooting at brighter environments and higher shutter speeds + lower ISO will solve your problem. Also try to improve your shooting environment by adding light (artificial or natural)

I just got my new Nikon D80 but cannot get the LCD screen to light up. Where do I find the setting or the LCD screen to have it on while shooting pictures?

The D80 does not use the LCD screen to take images. The screen is only used to review images and use the menu system to check or change camera settings. When shooting, you need to use the viewfinder above the screen.

Problem using lens hood

Maybe because the manual authors assumed the reader would use the built in flash instead of the one you slide into the top which is ok with lens hood.

Blue corners when shooting in BULB

With the same exposure settings, you should get the same result. When using Bulb in Manual mode, you also need to be sure you have set the lens aperture to the largest opening (lowest number). And don't forget to set ISO to 1600. Since the D80 has shutter speeds as long as 30" (minutes) I recommend you use them instead of Bulb, unless you need longer.

The blue areas are heat noise from long exposure -- other electronic components near the sensor are generating heat from the constant current flow. Be sure you check your Shooting Menu settings to set Long Exposure NR to ON and also High ISO NR to HIGH.

D80 shutter issue

contactjoni,
Your shutter will stick if it gets dirty or dust gets in the camera, a reputable camera shop can inspect the shutter, the sensor for dust & dirt and can clean it for you. If the battery is low while shooting the shutter can also stick on longer exposures.

Nikon D80 - Continuous shooting

I will need more info on the settings you are using. It might be that the camera is in a specific mode which is not allowing you to take continuos shots.

Nikon D80 Prints

Have you had the picture printed at a local photo lab. Try that and see if it's your computer/printer matching.

You may have to see if the Camera is set for Adobe RGB (or RGB) and your computer/printer is set for Adobe RGB or sRGB. These need to match. There's a new world with color matching that the point and shoot don't do.

Hope this helps. I could regurgitate all about Color Matching, but why when someone else has it all written out.
