Question about Dryers
My Kenmore Gas Dryer (model# 110.87980100), heats up, runs for about 10 minutes and then shuts down prematurely (clothes still wet). It won't start again until it is left to cool down for about 30 minutes. After cooling down, it will heat up and run again for about 5 minutes before it shuts down again. I tried running it on just the ''Air Cycle'' and it runs forever...no issues. I took apart and cleaned the vent thoroughly, cleaned the lint chute, vacuumed the motor, the ignitor and everything else I could find and it still does the same thing. I am about ready to start replacing parts blindly, but would like a place to start. Any ideas ?? Thanks in advance!
Sounds like a faulty high limit or cycling thermostat. The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a certain temp. It should be mounted on the exhause duct inside the back of the dryer. It should look something like the one in the picture:
Hope this helped and best wishes.
