Re: Timer Help

I was just playing with this myself...
Hit the "FUNC" button and scroll (if necessary) to "Drive Mode"
Scroll right/left to select 10-second, 2-second, or custom timer setting. If custom, hit the "Set" button then select the timer delay and number of shots to take.
Leave the FUNC display on the screen when you hit the shutter release. It begins counting down when you hit the shutter button, so make sure you've got it pointed where you want it (preferably on a tripod, though any stable surface will do in a pinch).

I don't know how to get/find/use the timer on my camera FINEPIX SL245

Press cursor-down (marked with a one-handed clock) to bring up the self-timer menu, use cursor-left/right to select the desired delay, then press the MENU/OK button. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button as usual.

Full details are in the "Using the Self-Timer" section of the manual (page 39 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy here.

My camera is set to take a timed picture but I don't know what button to push to start the camera timer just before the picture is taken

You declined to specify the make and model of your camera, so I can't be absolutely certain, but on most cameras you start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.
If this doesn't do it, please feel free to reply to this post, but be sure sure to specify the make and model of your camera.

If i put my camra on self timer win i print the pictures will the time show up on the pictures

The time it took the picture? You want to know if the camera will show the time it took the picture using the self timer?

My answer is Yes and No.

Do you have your camera set to showing the date and time on the pictures now? If you do, then using the self timer would not change anything.

If you do have it set to showing on the picture and you don't want the date and time to show then change the setting on the menu function of the camera and turn this option off.

If you do not already have the camera set to show the date and time, using the self timer option is not going to make it suddenly appear.

Self timer where is it. borrowed this camera for an assignment [ no manual] but I can only deduce from online information that the self timer works in all settings found on the top .. the settings knob

Press the FUNC/SET button. Use up/down to select Drive Mode (the rectangle, third item from the top). Use left/right to select the desired delay and press FUNC/SET. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

Camera is in japanese or chinese language and we need to change it to english.

go into the setup menu ("set") by pressing the menu button, and look for the picture of a little man yelling (he's speaking). That's the language set-up. Set it for english.
The self-timer is accessed through the arrow dial. The little picture of the clock at the bottom of the dial is the timer setting. The camera must be in the shooting mode to use the timer, not in playback. Here's a link to the owner's manual

Does camera have timer

Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self Timer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutter button and the time the picture is taken. 1 Place the camera on a flat surface or use a tripod. 2 In any Still mode, press the Self Timer button. The Self Timer icon appears in the status area. 3 Compose the scene. Then press the Shutter button half-way and hold to set the exposure and focus, then press the rest of the way down. Move so that you are in the scene. The Self Timer light blinks slowly for 8 seconds (then quickly for 2 seconds) before the picture is taken. The camera "clicks" when the picture is captured. To turn off the shutter sound, see page 64. The Self Timer turns off after you take the picture or if you change modes. To cancel the Self Timer before the picture is taken, press the Self Timer button. (The Self Timer setting remains active.) To turn off the Self Timer, press the Self Timer button twice.

There is a long delay taking pictures

Check to see if the self-timer is on. You can set the timer to 0, 2, or 10 sec. A 2 sec. delay will help to prevent blurry pictures. But setting the self-timer to 0 will take the picture as soon as you push the button.

: Pressing the shutter button will allow an interval of 2 seconds before the image is
