Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook
When i contacted ibm they told me that a new system board would definetly fix this "known issue" since the document that corrects this problem is an internla document. THERE IS FLIM FALM GOING ON WITH THE NEW OWNERS OF IBM.
THE WHOLE IDEA IS TO GET YOU TO PURCHASE MERCHANDISE YOU DO NOT NEED WHICH IS WHY YOU HAVE THE MEMORY ERROR. I THINK THIS IS LAME. SHOULD ENGOUGH PEOPLE POST MESSAGES ON THIS FORUM IT COULD DEFINETLY MEAN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE MANUFACTURER.
IBM/Lenovo should replace the motherboard without charge, since the memory slot issue is known, even if you are out of warranty.
But, you can fix that front slot by resoldering the pins on the board, using a fine-tipped soldering iron and some flux. Quite often it is sufficient to do only the 10 outer pins in each side, but it's better to do all of them. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.
Hope that helps.
