First take out the stock head unit, after the colors of the wires originally from the car is usually red black yellow orange blue or gray, blue or gray w/ stripe, and purple or green, and purple or green w/ stripe. the head unit should have a power on it for the speaker wires those are the only tricky ones. color with stripe is negative. yellow for +12 black for -12 ground and red is for ignition, turn the radio on with ignition on. purple is usually rear and blue is usual front

How do I fix the clock display on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?

It appears to be that the radio clock display has malfunctioned, and is due for a replacement radio, which could be an aftermarket or oem radio, maybe found at a junk yard.

Tools required for oem replacement radio, torx keys set.

Before working on the radio or other electronics, disconnect the battery cables with 8mm wrench.

Replacing the oem radio is much easier, if you obtain oem radio, compared to aftermarket radio, due to being direct fit.

The radio is same for 1995 to 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and the Chevy Cavalier, regardless of sub models, such as SE,GT, VL,VLX,Z24. etc.

Parts needed for the the aftermarket radio install :Stereo assembly, stereo wiring harness adapter, radio antenna adapter, and dash install kit.wiring diagram for the wire colors / functions, along with tools, such as torx key set, screwdrivers, wire crimper, wire stripper, double ended wiring connectors, hair dryer.

The oem stereo removal video is for the 2000 to 2005 Sunfire / Cavalier, but are the same or very similar procedures.

I had bought a dual xd1222 aftermarket stereo. i bought a gm2000 harness for it to hook up in my 2002 chevy cavalier. i have all the wires connected but when i hook it up in the carit will not work. what...

check the fuse behind the stereo and in your fuse box first off and make sure the power wire/ignition wires are on the correct pin. do this with a test light for verification. also check the ground wire. after you test and connect these 3 wires, the stereo should turn on. Your wiring harness may not be done correctly so visual verification with a test light would be the best thing before starting a car install. If this still does not work and the stereo you took out did, it is a malfunctioning unit.

not sure, maybe a wire in the harness is exposed causing an arc, maybe the stereo is faulty. I would check the wires first.
