CD playback skips back and forth

Hello, my CDJ100s started making problems in cd playback.
Whenever I put a cd in, it takes long to read and once it reads the cd, the playback is accompanied with both mechanical and audio signal noises. Playback itself skips back and forth repeatedly, also when FF or RW, which makes the unit preety useless.
I tried opening it to see if anything is wrong myself, but no success.

Re: CD playback skips back and forth

If you opened it and saw a rubber belt... try changing it with a new one... It is already loose, the temporary way to do it is when it closes, push it like helping it to move in quick.

Re: CD playback skips back and forth

Did it just stop working one day, or did you move it, use it differently, etc?

Sounds like your reader/tray might be bad, but could also be a faulty circuit which may have shorted out. If your handy with a multimeter, you might be able to trouble shoot it. Make sure there is nothing lodge in there, and when you opened it up, did you see any broken pieces from the tray? Sometimes the teeth on the gears crack and break off, so check that also. You can't miss the gears, this is what allows the CD to move in/out of the unit.

Good luck!

My pioneer cdj 800 mk2 wouldn't eject cd so had to force eject it and now it says cd still in there and it's continually skipping tracks and don't know how to stop it iv turned it on and off and still...

The CD draw is powered by a small rubber belt. This might have broken or fell off. You will have to dissemble the unit to find it. If it's broke, measure the diameter in MM and put the words "drive belt XXmm" into google. They are very cheap. Go for the nearest size to your measurements. You might also have to clean the lens of the CD player if the disc skips.

Wont read some discs

People need to learn to leave more info if they want proper help!

What type of discs? You say some, are they CD-R, CD-RW, SACD, CD+R, CD+RW, standard store bought Audio CD?

When copying audio cds for playback in other players, always use CD-R to avoid any type of confilcts. CD-R will play in almost any CD player, even from the 80s. Some players say they will support CD-RW, but that is NOT GUARANTEED!

If it is Audio CDs, then the laser may be dirty. If it is MP3 cds or DATA cds, then try only putting one type of file on the disc, such as only MP3s, or only WMAs.

Not reading any cd's

they are known for this! Does it take cd in for a few seconds and spit out? Does it take cd in and just tick? (if you put ur ear up to the drive you'll actually hear it try to spin but just give a lil tick noise). Numark does sell a replacement cd drive which isnt exactly a 100% fix but worth a shot seeing how the unit cost quite a bit. If you do end up replacing the cd drive and does not fix your problem there is also an internal cable. Once you pull out the drive, look inside to the left you'll see a white flex cable which may need to be re-seated. Let me know how you make out!

Cdj issues

Are you getting error messages? If you hold down the pause button for 10 seconds on that model , you should get one.

Keep me posted.

Cd reading problems

nope. there is no feature to choose between CD or CDRs. It plays whatever you put in the tray. More than likely your reader is damaged in some way, or possible damage to one of the ICs or other circuit causing it not to read CDRs. Unfortuanately, you will need to take it to a service tech for further investigation.

Audio skipping...

Hi there, i'm not exactly sure if your laser is as you say "POOCHED" I also have an sl-dz1200 that seems to be doing the same thing as yours (skipping or slurring at one particular point) i don't believe that the laser would be "pooched" but the laser would definatly need cleaning. i also believe that the problem may lie somewhere with the direct drive motor for the platter and mechanics of the cd player itself (think caching in pc's) if your pc isnt set up right you music sounds skippy, slurry or even broken (please don't quote me on this problem because i'm not an expert) but i have also noticed that the problem still occurs at the same spots on my unit when the music has been paused and i manualy push the platter around to simulate the same motion of playback, I'm putting my unit in to be serviced in two weeks. If you like i could keep in contact with you and let you know what the problem ends up being my details are: regards dj-nam
