I have a z740 and it happened to ne too! I found that one of the batteries were weaker of the two.
I had a new pair of NiMH just charged and that is all it took...Works like brand new and the camera gets great quality pictures..
At 100 feet at 5.0 pixal res wide angle you can blow the picture up to read the label on the back pocket of her denums

Camera lens won't shut

This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error" (older Canons), "ACCESS" error (Sony), "Zoom Error" (Fuji), "Lens Obstructed" (Kodak), "lens error, restart camera" or just "lens error" (nearly all camera makers lately use this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move.

Camera won't take pics on any setting but 22. Gives

Were you about to say it says FEE on any other setting? This is perfectly normal for a lens with an aperture ring. Leave it at f/22. You control the aperture from the camera body, the same way with a lens without an aperture ring.

I deleted all pics from A540 but ended up with "no image" message on black screen. The shutter won't open either. It appears to be stuck in viewing mode.

hi,

first: be sure the battery is full charge.

second: by a compressor try to blow around the shatter and lens .

third : 3 or 4 times try to inflict a blow on the lens by your palm .

at the end see the result

good luck

When i take pictures inside with my Canon eos Rebel xsi the pictures are very dark and I have tried all settings is it the camera or the lens?

Clear the custom functions and clear the camera settings in the main menu set the camera to P mode to get there! If you want to know if it is the lens. Put the camera in P mode and set the iso to 1600 and press the button on the bottom left side of the camera and listen to the lens diaphragm you should hear it moving, point the camera somewhere dark. Or set the camera to AV mode put the iso to 100 and turn the dial behind the shutter release switch all the way to the right and take a pic pointed towards a light source if the camera goes error 99 then it is the lens diaphragm! When I test a camera I set it to P mode and the iso to 400 and use the center focusing light and take four pics, one with the flash and one without close up and two as far away as possible one with the flash and one without and then compare the pics! Are you using the 18-55 mm is lens that came with the camera or a different one!

My camera will turn on and the lens just goes in and out, i can't take a pic, i can view my pics though. The screen just says access.

Copy all your pics from the camera to a computer or your card, take the card out and use the camera's menu to format the camera or reset it, see if that helps.

Good luck

Camera wont stay on, please help

Possible that the Lens Mechanism is out of sync. If its still within warranty just bring it in and have it serviced. If not I may be able to help you out but it requires dismantling the camera,..

If any one knows a quicker and easier way maybe they can post it here But as far as experience goes thats what happened with mine,

Hope this helps
