Check the fan which cools the compressor to make sure it's working , AND , make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint etc...An icemaker has to be 5 degrees to operate . If freezer is above that temp , will cause slow ice production .

It can be one of three things.

1) The freezer temp is too high (Turn it up, make sure that airflow is not obstructed (Too full in either the refrigerator or freezer section is a major culprit in this.)

2) Inlet water temp is too high. Not much you can do about this one as long as it is attached to a cold water line.

3) Filter is full. Change the filter located either under the bottom or behind the unit.

WHY DOES MY ICE MAKER ONLY MAKES ICE SOMETIME

Are the cubes normal - the right size, not hollow? Once frozen and the harvest cycle begins, does it take longer than a couple minutes for the cubes to drop? After the ice drops does it fill with water each time?
If everything checks OK the last thing is very important. The rate at which an ice maker produces cubes depends on the temperature of the freezer - the colder it is the quicker the cycle. Try nudging the controls up a bit and wait 24 hours.

Sub zero 650 slow ice maker

Hi Maureen,

Your sub-zero 650 should produce about 8 cubes every 2 hours. It sounds like the heater beneath the ice maker may be wearing out. Ice makers use a heating mechanism to warm the cubes in the mold and force them to easily eject. If the heater is failing in the back slot, it could cause the ice cube to get stuck. If this is the case, you usually need to replace the part or the entire ice maker.

It is also possible the mechanism isn't properly aligned. You could try adjusting it.

You can find two manual on FixYa here: http://www.fixya.com/support/p24667-sub_zero_650_o_bottom_freezer

Otherwise, I suggest contacting their customer service or a technician: http://www.subzero-wolf.com/contact-and-support/index.aspx

Best of Luck!

The ice maker drawer was left open a crack and the ice froze up and now it will not produce ice

Hi. Use a hair blow dryer to thaw out the ice maker. Remove all of the ice, warm up the tubes, be sure the ice cube molds are ice free. THEN close the door and let it make ice. The first set of new cubes will take a long time, often up to 24 hours. Joe

4 thumbs up please. ty

Is the ice maker wire shutoff arm or switch (depending on
models) in the OFF position?
Is the water line shutoff valve to the refrigerator turned on?
Has the ice maker just been installed? Is the freezer
temperature cold enough to produce ice? Wait 24 hours
after ice maker hookup for ice production to begin. Allow
3 days after ice production begins to completely fill ice
container.
Does the ice maker mold have water in it or has no ice
been produced? Make sure your refrigerator has been
connected to a water supply and the supply shutoff valve is
turned on.
Has a large amount of ice just been removed? Allow
24 hours for ice maker to produce more ice.
Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? The filter
may be clogged or installed incorrectly.
Is an ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
For models with an interior ice bin, remove the ice from the
ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
Is a reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? Make sue your connections are secure.

Have an LG LFX25960TT refrigerator with in door ice maker. The ice maker only makes 2 to 3 ice cubes at a time. (Too slow for my family's needs.) It appears like it doesn't get enough time to fill. Is...

Check to make sure the water supply to the refrig is good and the inlet screen where the water line connects to the refrig is clean. You can change the amount of water fill by pressing the button on the left side of the ice maker. (indicator lights above button show setting) Selecting "Ice Plus" on front of dispenser panel increases ice production for a 24 hour period. Ice maker should produce 6 cubes per cycle, aprox.. 100 to 130 cubes in 24 hours depending on freezer compartment temp, room temp, number of door openings, etc.

Found in the FAQ section on Samsung.com:
Samsung refrigerator freezers produce about 120 cubes per day, which is in line with most manufacturer specifications.
Empty the ice tray and let the unit run for 24 hours.
If fewer than 50 cubes are produced during the 24-hour test, then your refrigerator requires service. Please contact Samsung Service at 1-800-SAMSUNG to schedule a service appointment.
If your freezer is producing 50 to 90 cubes per day, try the following:
  • Set the freezer temperature display to a lower setting. Freezer temperature must be 5 degrees Fahrenheit or less for the ice maker to work properly.
  • Make sure that the water valve on the refrigerator water supply line is completely open. You can find the water valve where the refrigerator water supply line taps into your house water line.
  • If you have a water filter in your refrigerator, change the filter cartridge. For instructions, see your Users Manual.
If you want your freezer to produce more than 120 ice cubes in a day, try the following:
  • An ice maker typically makes 1 tray of ice every 90 minutes. To shorten the amount of time the freezer takes to produce a tray of ice, set the freezer temperature display to a lower setting.
  • If your refrigerator has a Power Freeze function, press the Power Freeze button to speed up the ice making process. In the Power Freeze mode, both the compressor and the freezer fan run for 10 hours continuously. The ice making interval is reduced from 90 minutes to 55 minutes. If the ice bucket fills in less than 10 hours, Power Freeze stops automatically.
NOTE: If you have just installed your refrigerator, it will take 6 to 12 hours for the refrigerator to produce ice.
You should throw away the first three batches of ice cubes that the ice maker produces (approximately 30 cubes) to ensure the ice maker is making ice from clean water.
