My PS2 discs won't spin. I just replaced the laser in my ps2 slim. It's the same part number, I checked both the old and new ones. And I cleaned the lens with a qtip and alcohol. I also cleaned inside the console, which wasn't that dirty. I have magic keys to cover the sensors so I can watch the laser move with the door open. My laser moves forward to the center ring, flashes red, and bobs up and down twice. But the middle doesn't spin. The only thing I worry about is I didn't have a soldering iron to remove the anti-static point on the new lens, so I cut the solder off. I was hoping I didn't mess up the circuit beneath where the solder was. But if the laser is moving freely and moving up and down and flashing red, then that doesn't seem the problem. The brake for the discs is held back by one of the magic keys so the disc is able to spin freely, it just won't. Any ideas?
First of all the new laser lens will not allow your Slim to read NTSC UC games if you have a PAL european Console.
There is no reason the New laser should have not read the disc unless it Came to you damaged. It sounds like you know how to replace a laser.
