This is replaced with a LM301AN ($1.60 ea. @ MCM Audio)....I'm trying a Burr-Brown OPA134 next, as it's supposed to offer great sound quality.

    This is easily replaced with a LM301AN ( $1.60 @ MCM Electronics) or, an upgrade to a Burr-Brown OPA134

IC is wrecked

When you indicate the Integrated Circuit is 'wrecked', and you indicate due to lightning, I can only assume you are talking about the Power MOSFET's, in the DC - DC circuit on the motherboard......

Example using the HP Pavilion dv6000 series, and Pavilion dv9000 series of Notebook PC's,

http://mayohardware.blogspot.com/2010/04/important-parts-on-dv6000-and-dv9000.html

Going further using the example.......

The Power MOSFET's used is the Fairchild Semiconductor Industries - FDS6679 - Power MOSFET, and the Alpha & Omega Semiconductor LTD - AO4407 - Power MOSFET.

Here we see the FDS6679 is Obsolete.

Picture went from normal to single lne, then not at all ,have power still have sound

You will need to locate the vertical IC. For some reason the location is prefixed with the letter q. Q in this case refers to a transistor. In any case I believe the location will be Q301. It has been a long time since I have repaired this TV. If you find the vertical IC (I think it may be the LA78XX series IC), you will need to resolder the 7 or 9 pin IC. The cross reference in the NTE electronic book may be the NTE 7158. If you can find this number in the NTE semi conductor book (will have picture and schematic info),you will know what to look for. In the case you resolder, do not short pins with excess solder. You will also need to replace any capacitors that are near the IC. There should be a 35 volt 2.2Mf cap at 105 degrees, this will be bad. Remember this may be all you have to do. Please check the capacitors in the immediate area of the IC. May be three more caps to check. In all, the location of the IC and capacitors will be in the center and a little closer to the rear of the main board. Inspect the rest of the board for bad grounds and resolder as necessary. Also check the small board behind the CRT, it will have areas to resolder. Hope this helps. If you feel you cannot do this, find a electronic enthusiast. Show them this note. This note will save you a few bucks. Knowlege is a great money saver. Thanks for asking me and show all hands of support!

Blinking red light

You did not give a model number. If this is an older model Sony, I would be concerned with the audio IC with standby. This IC will be of the TDA-XXXX series. I doubt if you have a problem with power supply. If you can locate the IC mentioned, and read the TDA number, cross reference this in an NTE semi conductor manual. If it does tell you it is an audio IC with standby...replace this IC with the cross reference. Be sure to check any grounds that need resoldered in the same area as the IC mentioned. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

RCA 52 HDTV working fine when suddenly a band of color, red, blue and green appeared at top of screen. Picture curved inward from top and bottom. Picture is blurry and has double images. Television is less...

There could be a convergence problem. Try these:
  1. Press MENU then choose SETUP>AUTO CONVERGENCE.
  2. When Auto Convergence is complete, the Red center convergence menu appears. The cross in the middle of the screen should be yellow. If it is not, use the arrow buttons to move the red cross to overlap the green cross. Press OK when adjustment is complete.
  3. The Blue center convergence menu appears with a cyan cross in the middle of the screen. If it is not, use the arrow buttons to move the blue cross to overlap the green cross. Press OK.

Green cross hair is tilted making colors blur. how do i get it to tilt correctly. blue and red cross hairs are straight.

Your symptoms sounds like a damaged convergence IC.

There are two very large IC’s that control the convergence in a big screen set. They are secured to a very large aluminum heat sink.

If one of the convergence IC’s are found to be bad, I would replace them both, if one has gone bad the other may go soon and it should only add the cost of the part to the repair.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Convergence circut

Usually there are 2 convergence IC's, labeled STK392-110. Each IC has 3 channes. Each color needs to be corrected 2 ways, vertically and horizontally, so 6 channels are needed. usually one IC does red, red and haf of green while the other IC does the other half of green, blue and blue. If the red colors are off, change the IC closest to the red jack. If the blue is off, change the IC closest to the blue jack. If the green is out, you have a 50/50 shot at replacing the correct IC. It is recommended to use the STK392-150 when replacing the IC's so it might not be a bad idea to go ahead and replace both with the newer numbers.
