Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

If you have manual of the router, read what's the default IP adress for accessing router. You can also try typing the 192.168.1.1 instead of a web adress in your WORKING COMPUTER'S web browser (this is the default IP usually). You will get window with username and password (you will find username and password in the manual of the router). When you access router, you can turn Wireless LAN on/off and change all values you need. You really should read manual first, it will all be clear to you after that.
What IP address were you entering in your web browser? Were you prompted for a username and password, or was the browser simply timing out when attempting to make a connection? I believe the default IP address for the router is 192.168.0.1 so make sure you're entering http://192.168.0.1 in your browser. If you're then prompted for a username and password then enter 'admin' for the username and try and leave the blank field blank then click 'OK' and see if you're able to login, unless you've changed this information.
First connect one of the ethernet ports (LAN) to your computer.
In windows to this:
XP: Start -> Run -> write CMD and press ok-> Black window pops up-> write IPCONFIG and press Enter. -> Look for Local ethernet connection and write down the ip adress outside default gateway (f.ex 192.168.0.10 or 10.0.0.1). Vista: click windowsmenu icon-> write CMD in search field and press enter -> Black window pops up-> write IPCONFIG and press Enter. -> Look for Local ethernet connection and write down the ip adress outside default gateway (f.ex 192.168.0.10 or 10.0.0.1).
Open a webbrowser and clear det adress field, enter the adress (with the dots and no www.) you wrote down from default gateway and press enter. If you get promted for a username and password the default is: username: admin password: password (you can find it on the side of the netgaer box under deafult accsess. If you cant get in try to do a "hard reset" (push the reset button for 30 sec with a pen).
You are now in the web user interface for you netgear.
On your lefthand side, you should have a blue menu, click on the first option on the top and run the setup wizard, dont change anything (dont choose that your connection needs a password to connect) just use the default settings. Remember to press save on the botom.
You should now be ready to use your netgear router.
If this guide didnt fix your problem, i need more details to help you. Check with your new service provider if they require a username and password to connect (PPPoE).

There is a reset known as a 30/30/30 reset. Hold reset with power on for 30secs, unplug power while still holding reset for 30 secs, plug power in while holding reset for 30 seconds more and release, wait 30 secs or more for reboot. This should put it back to factory defaults regardless of brand. Set your IP manually on the PC to be 192.168.0.2 Open your web browser and type in the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1 by default). Enter the username (admin) and password (blank by default), and then click Ok or Log In
