Re: windows startup fails

I had the same thing happen on my laptop. I took it to be serviced and the tech told me I had one of the worst internet viruses he's seen. There was no way to save my data and the computer had to be reformatted.....each sector zeroed 7 times each!!! He also told me that McAfee and Norton both miss this virus and the only one he knows that works is AVG.

What can I do to get my laptop to start up rather than a continual error message and re-boot cycle?

It is looking for the operating system on the hard drive and failing to find it in the system restore area.

If it does not find it, it will look on the DVD and or flash drive.

You need to make a backup of the operating system on to a DVD or flash drive from another windows 8 computer and put it in the computer to be repaired.

Acer aspire one flash BSOD then loops booting up

You can repeatedly hit the F8 key when you turn it on to get to the Safe Mode and other options. Select the option to Disable Automatic Restart so that you can see what the error is on the blue screen.

Try running the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Won't load up..shows a blue screen and keeps mode,last config.,and normal startup don't work.

Blue screen is usually a 'windows accessing RAM memory' problem, so try removing your ram one at a time.
Failing that, boot from a ubuntu disk (download from here and burn to disk) and run a test on your ram.
Finally, if it's not the ram, do a system restore, or a windows reinstall from disk.

Hi i have a dell inspirion 1525 flamingo pink, and when i start my computer it fails to start and a blue screen flashes and then it starts over again, it does this in a continuous loop please help!!

start your laptop and tap on the F8 key when you start up.

this will get you to the "Advanced startup Items" menu

select "do not auto restart" near the bottom of the menu and press enter.

This will allow the blue screen to stay up and you will be able to get the stop error code. You should be able to find a fix for it here:

Windows will not start

Have a tech look it over, it could be a more serious issue that requires reloading Windows from scratch.

Computer doesnt start after i uninstalled norton antivirus

this error message means that Windows lost access to the system partition or boot volume during the startup process. Typical causes: Installing incorrect device drivers when installing or upgrading storage adapter hardware, or a virus.

you need to reinsatll windows to fix this

You should go into the safe mode and try to uninstall or undo the previous work. Else use the system restore. But if it continues again with a blue screen error, then u should format ur pc, further if u experience blue screen error then u should note that one of ur hardware is damaged.
