Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

A noise is coming from the AC/heating vents, model Rheem.

Sounds like a belt is slipping and causing a squill. If this could be the issue, where is the belt and how do I replace it?

Loud, low (bass) noise, not coming from the vent or the heating element

Most probably caused by one of the belts being frayed and about to break. You might want to replace the small drive belt (00096426) first as it does the most work of transferring the motor power to the shaft causing the drum to rotate. A worn belt can cause a low frequency hum and potentially slow down drum rotation as it slips on the hubs. Replacing the large drum belt requires a lot more work than the drive belt because you must remove both the front and side panels of the dryer; whereas, the drive belt is accessed by removing the right side panel.

When air or heat is on squilling sound comes on 98 buick century

If the squealing is coming from the engine you may need a belt. If it sounds like the dash it could be your blenddoor actuator having problems cycling or the blower motor

Why does my car makes squilling noise when i crank up the car but stops

If the noise happens when the engine is first started, the serpentine belt may be slipping when the alternator is pulling hard.

I have a 50 gal rheem water heater, its making a clicking noise i have discovered if i shut off the cold water supply it stops, when i turn it back on then the clicking starts again, my t&p has popped...

sediment build up is usually causes thumping and noises from tank. it needs flushed out. models, where the heat source is beneath the tank. The burner heats the water under the sediment, leading to a build of steam. The steam finally escapes as bubbles, which can cause the sounds.

have a good day !

When using hot water, the Rheem revs up like a motor cycle

I would check and see if the ventpipe that is coming off of the top of the motor is strapped to any duct work in the basement or touching and floor joyces. Even if the venting is touching the duct work a bit, it will amplify the vibration through out the home.

The only other issue it could be would be that the fan blades are bent and rubbing up against the inside of the motor causing the noise and extraem vibration

Belt squeaks when AC turns on

Your belt is not tight enough. Are you using the power steering pump to adjust? (right way) or doing something else? Keep tension on the pump and tighten the pivot bolt first.

Dryer problems

sounds like the belt is slipping, check belt and tensioner, or possible vent clog. verify vent is open and unobstructed by turning on dryer with no heat selected then go outside and make sure there is lots of air coming out exhaust outlet.
