Question about Fisher and Paykel Fisher Paykel Intuitive Eco Washer IWL15

4 Answers

F7 Error I have a similar problem as others. The dishwasher is a Fisher and Paykel Nautilus. When you press start it only goes for about a minute then comes up with the F7 error with the start light flashing 7 times. You hold down the reset button and it will come up with 10mins on the display and you can hear it pump out. This lasts for about a minute then it say's finished. I had a similar problem about 6 months ago and called a technician. He diagnosed the fill drain sensor, changed it, charged me a fortune then left. It seemed to be fixed but is now doing the same thing. Any ideas???

There does not appear to be any blockages with the drain hose but you did mention about cold fill water being a problem. We do have fairly cold water here. You mentioned that there is a reset sequence for this. What is it???

I have checked the drain and fill hoses and they are clear...what next???

Hey mate, thanks for the tips but are you aware that my problem is with a dishwasher? There seems to be some confusion as when I first posted my problem it came up as a washing machine and I am sure the first guy I spoke to thought it was a washing machine. The problem child is a Fisher and Paykel Nautilus Dishwasher.

The machine is a Fisher and Paykel Nautilus model DW 691ED SS Any info would be great

Hi Lee, Sorry for not answering all your questions. Yes it is the same problem as about 6 months ago. It has worked fine since the tech replaced the fill/drain sensor but now it has the exact same problem. I am located in Toowoomba Queensland Australia 4352. I suppose you are in the US are you? I just hesitate in calling a tech again because last time he charged me heaps just to travel to diagnose the problem then there was labour costs then the cost of the part. If I have to pay that again and it is only going to last 6 months then I would rather wash my dishes by hand if you know what I mean. The factory that makes these machines is only a couple of hours drive away but they seem to hold onto their info very closely and just refer you to a tech in your area. If it is only the fill/drain sensor again and I could get hold of one then I would change it myself. It is not a hard job. It would be great though if I could get hold of a service manual for this particular model. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Steve.

Was it the same error last time? This problem is of course only suppose to be fixed by a calling your authorized service center. If you give me the actual model of your unit I can assist you further. There is a service manual online available. It may not be your exact model but it should be very close and the fault codes should be the same.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/6462163/DD601V2-Manual

F7 is Communications Time-Out error. The motor control micro has crashed and is not responding to communications requests. The hardware communications link from console to motor micro has broken. An external device is holding the communications line low.
Once I have more information and the actual model I can assist you further. If that is your model then you can review the exact steps the service technician would take to trouble shoot the problem. For this fault it says to replace the electronic controller.
Though I would contact the service center as there are specialized tools that they may be able to reset the electronic controller with, and that may save you money. If you need their contact info or have any other questions please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

There is a lot of people with a lot of complaints about these units constantly breaking. Where about are you located. I can assist you in getting contact information. This repair is really best left to a professional to troubleshoot. Also there was a few of my questions left unanswered. Are you getting the same error as you did last time? Once I have more information I can assist you further. Also having trouble retrieving the user manual from their site. If it is the same error I would start again with the drain sensor. If you are not planning on repairing this yourself. It is really best to let a professional diagnose the problem which requires hands on with the machine.
    Thank you,
    Lee

You really can't get a hold of anything for this model. I can't find parts list or even parts. This is a common issue with manufacturers of this nature. If it is costing you that much for repair. I would consider getting a new dishwasher from a reputable company. You can always contact a repair facility to purchase the part yourself and try and change it yourself as it would save you quite a bit of money. If you watched him change it at all. It isn't an extremely difficult process, You can reference the other manual I gave you as all dishwashers are basically the same. You have several options available to you.
    Thanks again and good luck,
    Lee

Hi Steve. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this brand is problematic. Since the problem is the same as 6 months ago call the tech and complain. The part should be good for a year. Sounds to me like the fill drain sensor is bad again. Find out up front if he will come back for nothing or a small set fee. If he won't cooperate get his name and then ask to speak to his supervisor. If you don't get satisfaction threaten and do report them to the better business bureau. If you get no satisfaction let me know and i will talk u through changing the fill drain sensor again.

HI, this is a communication link code. The best case scenario is a broken hardware communications link from the console to the motor microprocessor. This could be a bad wire harness, or maybe a defective Main control board as well. you can confirm by tracing all wiring harnesses inside the unit. make sure all wires are connected to there respective contacts tightly and securely as well. check the drawer limit switch for tight wire connects as well. if the harnesses all look ok and they are connected securely, this will confirm a defective Main control board. replace it in this case. it has failed.

***(Most common issue here if the harness is ok is a Lid switch fault. Failed control is the uncommon issue but, possible.))

Absolutely. i am aware that is a dishwasher. The actual issue is a Lid fualt(F-7) but, i would be sure to inspect the entire wiring harness for loose connections and faults before addressing the actual lid fault. Many times, this error code will come up and, it will be the result of a communication issue(fualty wiring harness).

Now, if the harnesses are in good condition and, the lid switch and drawer limit switch are also in working order, this will be a false code caused by a defective Control board.

Ok. i need to make a slight adjustment to my solution. please disregard the lid fault. this is concerning a communication error between the Motor Microprocessor and the control Board. these two devices are connected by a wiring harness. inspect this wiring harness thoroughly for loose connections and faults. make sure this harness is connected correctly. if the harness is flawless, replace the Control board.

Hi

This could be the issue with your Drain hose that is either clogged or kinked and you need to clean them.Use the diagrams in the manual to locate your dishwasher's drain hose.
F7 Error - 9736d43.jpg

You should see this under the sink. Check both connections to see if there is any water dripping, which is a sign of a possible drain-hose clog. Check the outside of the hose for any visible bulges. If the hose is broken or decayed, you will need to replace it. Disconnect the drain hose at both connection points. You may need a small adjustable wrench to do this. Stagnant water may be trapped in the hose, so remove it carefully and pour any trapped water down the sink. Straighten the hose and look through it. If you can see obstructions, the drain hose is likely the cause of your drainage problems. Flush out all of the debris with very hot water from the sink, and then replace the drain hose, tightening it well at both connection points.

If thats no the issue then the problem could be because of water supply temperatures being too low when filling. Apparently, there are some issues with the temperature sensing circuits in some dishwashers that causes an error code to be generated if a certain water temperature is not achieved in a specified time interval (this time may differ between models). There is a reset sequence that you can try to clear the fault. If the fault appears again then unfortunately you'll need to contact Authorised Repair Technician.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

The reset sequence that you can try to clear the fault is : Push the NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons in that sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the CANCEL button. This will clear any existing faults and should return the dishwasher to normal operation. If the fault appears again then unfortunately you'll need to contact Authorized Repair Technician.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

Dishwasher beeps 3 times and won't start

I finally solved this problem by doing the following:
I removed the front plate, this can be done by removing the two round plugs one on each side of the lower front of the washer just above the rack. once you do this the front comes off, then you remove the ground wire. From the front upper right there is a photo sensor in two plastic tube, make sure they are in correctly and not slipped out of position.
My washer, it appears the plastic casing that is holding the circuit board and the sensor broke off on one end, I simply taped it to the main body by using electrical tape and made sure it was secure.
I put everything back and now my washer doesn't stop anymore.

We are now getting a U1 error code on a Fisher and Paykel Nautilus dishwasher which was in the house we purchased 3 years ago and has functioned perfectly until now. There was no manual left when we took...

U1 means the unit has failed to prime with water within 3-4 minutes.
Its taking longer than expected to fill with water.
Check the fill valve, water supply problem, excessive sudzing.,reduce your detergent.
