UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS ANSWER>.At the end of the wash cycle, the softener liquid would still be in the tray or sometimes it would be filled with water almost up to the max fill line. Occasionally, but not very often, it would be empty, So we no longer used the softener dispenser. In addition to the clothes no longer getting softened, because the tray always had quite a bit remaining water in it, when the tray was opened to fill for the next load the sliding action of the tray would cause the remaining water or fabric softener to siphon out onto the glass part of the open washer door and onto the floor. Warranty Service replaced the water diverter (part above the soap/bleach/softener drawer that has holes in it where the water is sprayed into the various cups (detergent, softener, bleach, etc), The water valve assembly and the diverter box was replaced under warranty. This reduced the frequency of the problem for a while but then the problem came back. Now the washer was not under warranty. I replaced hoses, checked my cold and hot water pressure, inspected small filter screens (2 in each of the hot and cold water inlet connections on the back of the washer), bought another water valve solenoid assembly, verified tubes from tray compartment to the washer were not plugged, and made sure the siphoning tubes for each dispenser compartment were clean but I could not fix the problem. We lived with the problem for over 3 years. After many hours, days, and weeks of analysis and experimentation ( I will leave the details out) I finally found the solution. When its time for the washer Control Board to initiate dispensing of the softener liquid by adding water to the Softener Dispenser(which then initiates siphon action in the Softener Tray drain tube and dispenses the fabric softener), the controller activates a combination of the water solenoids. This is because there is no dedicated "Softener" solenoid. Multiple valves operate, adding water into the water diverter. Through a system of channels, the combinations of flows is suppose to channel the water into the softener tray. Here is where the problem is. Cutting to the chase, I solved the problem by slightly restricting the water flow in the "Main Cold" line (the line is marked "Main C" on the top of the diverter box). Note that you will have to remove the 2 screws located at the back of the washer and slide off the washer top to see this. What I did was to remove the rubber hose from the "Main C" diverter box port. To restrict flow, I took a Diameter #6-8 ' length 3/4" red plastic wall anchor from Home Depot and with a single edge razor blade, slightly trimmed the ribs off so that it fit tightly into the hole on the Divert Main C connection. Reinstalled hose and the problem was fixed. As a side note, I did notice that the other solenoids (PreWash, Bleach,) had flow restrictors installed on them at the solenoid assembly side, but none on the Main C. Not sure if this is intentional or not. As mentioned above, I replaced the solenoid assembly (large one that consists of 4 solenoids) 2 times and neither assembly had a restrictor on the Main C.

My fabric softener intermiitently was left with clear water in the tray. The serviceman replaced the tray which did not fix the problem, he then replaced the valve assembly. That fixed the problem for about a year and now I am experiencing the same problem. Being the unit is now out of warranty, I purchased a valve assembly and replaced it but what I found in the process was that the real problem was that after removing the filter screen where the hose connects I found a SECOND mesh filter that was plugged up. I removed it with a needle from the edge so I didnt damage the screen. I think you could also just used a spray bottle with some water and a Q tip to clean. I wasted $50 on a valve assembly, but I did discover this second filter screen that is not mentioned in the user manual. Hope this helps someone because I have not seen this solution posted anywhere.

SOURCE: fabric softener dispenser no longer works on my Bosch

Remove soap drawer completely from washer, and thoroughly clean all parts of it, paticularly the conditioner compartment..
Get a piece of stiff wire, and make a right angled bend in the end of it, then poke the wire into all the holes in the top of the soap drawer compartment to clear any possible blockage.
This should solve the prob.
Please rate my solution.
Thankyou.

SOURCE: Fabric Softener Won't Dispense

The fabric softener dispenser is notorious for clogging. Liquid fabric softener is essentially a liquid form of wax. After a period of time it begins to gunk up the inside of the fabric softener dispenser. If you remove the dispenser drawer and look into the cavity, there should be a series of holes in the upper part of the compartment where water sprays into all the dispenser trays. These holes get gunked up and clogged and water will not dispense properly. As a result, the washer goes through a complete cycle, but the dispenser stays full. If this is the case, you can take some cotton swabs and/or toothpicks and clean these holes real good. It may be a bit meticulous, but it should take care of the problem. Post back and let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: fabric softener dispenser won't drain the fabric softener.

It appears your softener tray door solenoid has failed in this instance... or it may be gummed up.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

SOURCE: Dispenser still full of water and fabric softener

hiya
this could be caused by a faulty cold inlet valve if the detergent is not being taken away. however if the detergent iis being taken away then the valve is working ok as it fills the compartment with water lifting the detergent out and into the washing machine.

hope this helps

SOURCE: remove and replace fabric softener dispenser on kenmore model 20952992

I just did it. All you do is pull up on the blue part -- put the fingers of both hands under the rim and pull. It isn't screwed or bolted on. If there's a lot of gunk built up, it's all the harder to pull up. Be prepared for some yucky stuff. It would be nice if that whole section would come out, since you have to clean the area below with Q-tips.

Washing Machine ' Fabric Softener ' Problem ' Won't Empty

Front loader. Why doesn't fabric softener dispenser empty?

It can be two things. First, what is left in the dispenser? If its the fabric softener, then the water valve may be faulty. The water valve will have multiple feeds and the fabric softener might be bad. If its a combination of water and softener, then the dispenser might be clogged. You can remove the slide out tray and clean it. Look for build up of fabric softener that might be there. Good Luck?

Why is my Samsung VRT Steam washer holding water in the detergent/softener dispenser?

the soap, bleach and fabric softner get dispensed by opening a water valve to the dispenser to flush out the items. They then flow to the bottom of the tub. Not all of the water comes out for various reasons, but the important information is that it is seldom critical to performance. If you want to pursue it, check dispenser (take it out) and clean it well. I assume the machine is level.

Frigidaire washing machine fabric softner will not dispense out

Hello - There are several things that could cause the fabric softener to not dispense into the washer. Are you sure the liquid in the dispenser after the wash is fabric softener? If it is fabric softener, the solenoid that lets the water into the dispenser is not working. This solenoid is located on the back of the dispenser. It only gets voltage during the dispense time and fills the fabric softener dispenser with water. The fabric softener dispenser fills while the washer is filling for the rinse cycle.

When the washer begins to fill for the rinse cycle, the fabric softener solenoid is energized and water flows into the fabric softener dispenser cup. When the cup is full the water siphons out and softener and water flow into the tub.

If the liquid in the fabric softener dispenser is pure softener you may need a technician to diagnose and repair the problem. The voltage will have to be tested to the softener solenoid and a volt meter is required.

If the liquid in the fabric softener dispenser is water you probably need to clean the dispenser cup. **** will build up in the siphon tube and stop the liquid from going into the washer tub. The incoming water will dilute the softener and overflow the dispenser cup and run into the tub. The instructions for cleaning the dispenser should be located on page 43 of the use and care guide that came with the washer.

If you don't have the use and care guide these instructions will help. Open the dispenser until it stops. In the left rear corner of the dispenser, there is a release that is labeled push. Press down on the push area and you can slide the dispenser drawer out.

Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Clean the bottom of the insert and the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Reinstall the insert and put the drawer back inside the washer.

To test the siphon action slowly pour water into the fabric softener compartment. When the water level goes above the maximum line stop pouring. The water should all drain out.

Hope this information proves to be helpful however if it is ineffective please contact a professional to move forward accurately.

Fabric softener dispenser fills up with clear water after washing cycle is complete. I do not use fabric softener .

Purchase some fabric softener and place it in its normal location at the beginning of the cycle. At the end of the cycle check to see if fabric softener has been dispensed and whether there is water in the cup.

If the fabric softener is gone, but there is water in the fabric softener cup, then your problem may be with the water valve assembly. The water valve assembly (as one complete unit) has a separate solenoid for hot and cold water temperatures, bleach and fabric softener. The fabric softener solenoid on the water valve assembly could be defective (allowing water to fill the fabric softener cup).

Contact an appliance service company.

What type of water hoses are hooked up to it? If you have the flood safe hoses with the check valve in them then there isn't enough water pressure to distribute the softener.
