I pulled back the door seal and looked all the way around the inside of the door and I cannot find any screws

  • chrbenson Jul 27, 2009

I have opened the door and pulled back the seal. I cannot find any screws. The seal seems to be attached with adhesive to the outer door side. Does the front despensor face just clip on?

The problem is that the water dispensor does not work. The ice maker works fine. We have replaced the filter valve and checked all of the lines, so the problem would seem to be in the dispensor unit itself.

    yep - its a trimring.

the screws are behind the panel.

    Start at the top.

There is a locating hook at the bottom.

Once it is disconnected - you'll lift up to remove it.

Open the door and gently fold the door seal out to expose the screws that hold the door together,Remove the screws and the door will separate into 2 pieces and you will have access to all the internal door parts.

Parts inside my ice maker in the door fell out cant figure out how to get the front panel off the ice and water maker

Remove the top freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the plug there . This removes all power to the door so the refrig can still run while working on the dispensor . Use a butter knife slipped down between the lower portion of the dispensor cover and the main dispensor from the inside and press down . There are 2 plastic tabs holding the lower cover in place . After the lower portion is unclipped , lift upwards to remove the top portion . Disconnect the plug to the dispensor front . There are 3 or 4 screws holding the white " body " in place , so remove them and it should slide out a little ways to allow access to the inner workings .

Ice Dispenser not dispensing ice

Remove the top freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the plug there . This will remove power to the dispensor . Remove the dispensor grill , and also the 2 screws at the bottom of the dispensor front . Lift the front up and out , and remove the plug on the front . You should now see the white switch bracket . On the left side , is the ice dispensor motor switch , when usually , one of the spears holding the switch breaks off , not allowing the ice dispensor to work . If this is the case , the part number is 2180226 . Only held on by 2 screws . When/if replaceing , be sure to put the plastic spacers in the correct position next to both switches , and be careful not to break one of the spears , holding the switches .

Access from front of freezer door. Trim is just pushed into friction holders. Selector area snaps in. Phillip screws under that removes ice shoot.

Water dispensor on freezer door does not work

usually you could have a bad water valve. the dispenser side of the valvle could be froze up. if not then there is a small micro switch above the dispenser lever.

Ice dispensor

Make sure that the "flapper-door" closes about 3 seconds after the ice dispenser button is released. Mine had a habit of catching and staying OPEN. This allows warm air to enter the dispenser / freezer compartment causing your problem.

If it is stuck you have to take the dispenser apart to loosen / lubricate the flapper door cam to allow for free movement.

This is the worst ICE system I've ever seen for a variety of reasons.

Kenmore Elite Model: 106.5896.701 - Ice cube motor not turning

If you are describing the ice dispensor motor then you will find it under the ice bucket. If I remember correctly there will be 2 1/4 inch nut screws about the 3rd shelf on the freezer door. You will have to look up at them. The white mold that the bucket sits on. This is inside the freezer door. Those motors burn out frequently because ice will get jammed in ice bucket or bucket will freeze up due to flapper on dispensor isnt sealing correctly. Then we humans will continue to push to dispense and it wont move and burn up the windings. If you can work upside down you can fix this.

I have a Kenmore side by side refrigerator/freezer. I am getting really slow flow from water dispensor (outside freezer side door). It takes 20 seconds to fill up a glass of water.

check to see if your ice cubes are well formed or hollow / if hollow replace your filter 1st and if no good replace your water line / if cubes are large and well formed the replace your water valve to fix your water problem.

We have a side by side refrigerator/freezer. a water drip runs down the grille on the freezer side. a small amount. we cannot locate where the water comes from. Can you help?? model #ed20tqxfn00 Al...

If you have ice and water in the freezer door it would appear that the water line going to the water dispensor has a leak. First check where the door hindges at the bottom as this is where the line runs from the water container located in the fresh food compartment to the water dispensor in the freezer door.
