Hi,

Thanks for using fixya!

I have had the same problem that you are having right now. I basically don't know how to start making my own sub box. Well, I chose the Bass-reflex type Box. This the best. Check this link out for a detailed overview of sub box making. http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1789/build-your-own-10-inch-subwoofer/

Have a great day.

WHAT SIZE AND TYPE BOX DO I USE FOR ONE PIONEER TS-W304C SUBWOOFER

You have a lot of choices for this. First, unless you are tuning the sub to a specific frequency you have options. You didn't specify the size of sub so it's difficult to say specifically, but if it's a 12 inch sub, you need about 1.5 to 2 cubic feet. Of course the performance of the sub depends on the music you listen to. If you listen to rock, pop, classical, or country, I recommend a sealed box. A sealed box gives you better control over your sub. The air acts as a cusion and decreases the return time of the cone to rest position. This gives you tighter bass. If you listen to rap or hip hop, I recommend a ported enclosure. This type of enclosure allows for more cone excursion, thus allowing the sub to recreate lower frequencies. Hope this helps.

What size box should i build fro two pioneer 12inch speakers 1200watts each

For optimal performance there is really only one size for the box .Firstly, you get two different types of subwoofers, an open air, or closed air sub. If it is an open air sub ( hole with mesh in the center of the magnet) no ports are required, and the box should be sealed on the inside with silicone sealant. If it is a closed air sub ( no hole in the magnet) you need a 50mm port about 120mm long. If it is a 12 inch speaker, the box size will be 13 inches x 13 inches x 13 inches.

How do I make a sub box for my single ten inch re sx 10 inch sub dat is 1000 rms. Da box needs to be tuned to 35 hz

yeah, you likely cant build a box to tune 35hz... try just building a box that has correct spec by the manufacture for ideal operation, and adjust the gain accordingly, that's where you will attain your desired hertz, oh and by the way hertz refers to signal, and pulse rate,

If i put the TS-swx310 sub in a bigger box would it get help the sound.......i have a 12'' regular sized box and the speaker is going in a car now???

It is amazing the difference box construction can have on the overall sound of a system. Size is only one factor. Using a larger sealed box may make the sub hit lower, but not necessarily louder. Because the TS-swx310 is a shallow mount woofer, it is designed to run in small enclosure. Putting it in a much larger box could potentially cause damage to the woofer over time. If you want more bass my advice is to use a normal woofer in a box built to spec for it. Generally a ported box will provide more output, and sealed hits tighter. It all depends on the type of music you listen to.
Hope this helps

I need bow specifications for a pioneer ts-w308f

Hello, The problem with the enclosure is that you purchased a "free-air" sub, which is designed to NOT use an enclosure. You need to simply mount the sub on a baffle (board) that covers the whole entire rear deck of your vehicle, and seperates the inside of the trunk from the cabin of the vehicle. Use sealant to keep the two compartments sealed air-tight and mount the sub on the baffle-board. The other option, is to build a very large box (larger than 3 cubic feet) that would be incredibly huge for the subwoofer, as a free-air, it has a VERY high QTS, and relies on a massive amount of air behind the woofer to allow it to reach low frequencies. The best bet would be to get rid of the free-air sub and purchased a sealed enclosure subwoofer for use in a small (.6-1 cubic foot) sealed box.

How can i connect 2 12''s pioneer premier too an jl audio amp n make the bass loud???

Hello m1k377060,

Having your subs in well-designed and constructed enclosures will make as much or more difference in their output than how you connect them to an amp.

The TS-SW1241D's are single voice coil 4 ohm shallow subwoofers that are rated for 350 watts RMS. For maximum loudness, your JL amp needs to be 2 ohm stable and capable of delivering 700 watts RMS into that impedance. Wire the subs in parallel for a 2 ohm load and maximum power from the amp.

Hope this helps.

Choice of speaker box

If you're looking for SPL (LOUD) go vented.
If you're looking for tonal accuracy (Sound Quality) go sealed.

The tradeoff between the two is that a ported enclosure will allow your subs to play highly powered. More air flow - better cooling of the voicecoils.

Sealed enclosures dont like much power because the coil cannot breathe and heats up rather quickly.

Its up to you, and your listening type.
Just remember LOUD = PORTED
QUALITY = SEALED

Bandpass is kind of a mixture of the two, however you give up some of the frequency range the sub plays at - and I dont ever recommend a bandpass enclosure to my customers unless they are looking to be flashy and light up the cones or magnet assemblies.

There are advantages and disadvantages to every enclosure type.
Pick the one that best suits your taste, and be sure to fire it toward the rear of the vehicle for the best response and cabin gain.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

Amps

It comes down to Amperage and RMS, your best bet is to go in and talk to a salesman at a stereo shop. That way he can decide on what sort of power you want and how you wanna use the subs. But 1000amp AMP is probably a good start 4 channel of course. Alpine or SOny make some kick a$$ AMPS

Recommended volume for these speakers is 1-2 cu ft each speaker. Best materials are marine grade plywood and epoxy resin/matting. decide what space you think you can spare and see if you can make a box that will be about the right size in the space. always try and leave as much space behind the speaker as the speaker takes up from the front. look at the link below for some ideas of the ready made boxes you can buy. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/album/compare/0,,2076_310069931,00.html the speakers you have will need at least 2 one inch ports each in the back of the box, or equivalent. completely sealed can have bad effects on these speakers at high volume. I personally recommend keeping both subs in a seperate box completely, but a good solid box with a divider will probably work - make sure that no holes of any size exist between the two as this will cause distortion with certain channel set ups and is best avoided although some good results have been achieved with back flow between sub sets - it is a bit too hit and miss to be worth trying. If you need ideas how to fit these into your car so they look good - check out http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/pimp_my_ride if you haven't seen it, check out a few episodes and you will get some great ideas and construction tips. Hope this helps :)
