My computer is not recognizing my canon powershot sd1100is. this used to work so i do not know what happened. my computer will not download any pics off the camera. when i tried the connect to camera is said to check connection i did. and i also tried to restore my system back to when it did work. it still will not work. any help would be wonderful thank you

Sure you can as it supports SDHC cards too.

This may be happening because you may be connecting it in camera mode. Please switch to the non camera mode, ie, where you see pics on the camera itself. In this mode you can only see pics but cant take any.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.


The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Use a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

No idea what is up with the camera...but you can use a card reader to get your pics onto the computer.

Google Picasa3 and download the free software. It does recognize previously downloaded pics and does lots of other really fun things too. You'll love it.

Go to the following page, select drivers and downloads tab. When the download page comes up, select your operating system.
