Well before any attemp for help instructions is this laptop setup for WIFI or shouyld I ask is the hardware of this laptop WIFI?
It is like a walky talky you need 2 to tango. (This is not clear in your help artical).
If it is then there is a software switch to go back and forth from hardwire capable to wireless . both can not occupy usage at the same time you have to tell it to switch. Controlpanel will help here too.
DHCP setup will set your IP address numbers to the router request automatically. Once yopu tell your computer your going WIFI. But if it is not a built in item on your laptop you will need a PCMCIA card or a USB WIFI thumbnail hardware...Yes the easy thing is to send you else where for help but this is not help when the tech support may assume that the laptop is already set for WIFI

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

You have the right gizmo there. You just need to set it up correctly. If you are in the US contact belkin @ 1 800 223 5546.

You need to know your ISP type first before trying to contact them. Know if you have a PPPoE (High speed DSL with password) Dynamic IP internet (no user name or password required to connect to the internet, usually used by cable internet providers)

After you find the right information just contact belkin and they will assist you with the proper router usage.

Have a great day.

Tell me the exact model no of your router.

and as per you, you have installed that Wireless router, than you must have all the information about your wireles network Like

SSID:

Connection type: secured or unsecured

If it is secured than what is the encryption key?

or you will have to set it

For that you need to login to your router page and set all that information there.

Well than let me tell you about the steps and see if you could perform those

    1. Go to Start/ Run and type there CMD if you are using XP as Os

    for Vista

click on start than where you would have start and search written on a white bar over there Type CMD and hit ENTER.

    2. In command prompt type Ipconfig and hit enter and see what is your default gateway

    3. Go to internet explorer and in the address bar there Type your default gateway which would be something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.0 or some other no.s like this

    4. That might prompt you for a username and password which you will have to enter.

    5. Once you will on the router page than check the link there which would say Wireless setting

There you will find your SSID

Connection type can be secured or unsecured

If that would be secured than you need to enter a passphrase there and than click on Generate key it will give you the keys there and than you ca try to connect to it wirelessly.

I have just purchased a bELKIN SURF N300, installed the disc. nothing is signing on the internet. lap top, Ipod ..nothing works, they recognize there4 is a signal, but will not get on internet.

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
If your network is secured then make sure that you are typing the correct network key.
also make sure that the DHCP server is enabled on the router.
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.

Belkin F5D7051 WONT WORK

I assume you have a CD for supreme commander. If so, uninstall it.

Shut down your PC, your modem, your router.

You shouldn't need the CD if plug and play works properly.

Power up your PC, your modem and let it cycle fully, your router.

Plug and play should install and you should be on your way.

Reinstall Supreme Commander if you must.

Connecting second laptop to my Belkin Wireless G router

I don't know the model of your router this would be very helpful. Most routers have a reset button on the back of the router. This will reset your router back to factory default settings. This will reset the pasword to default usually "admin". You will need to set up your router all over again. Let me know the model and I can send you a link for installation of your router.
