Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FV310 27" TV
We have a Sony 36" FD Trinitron Wega. Of late, it takes a long time for the picture to come on and after it does it periodically goes black and comes back on. This occurs for about the first four or five minutes after being turned on. Should I look into getting a new TV?

It's called a loss of vertical deflection. In this particular model your set uses a TDA8172 for a vertical Ic, at board position Ic561.
Replacing that and check or replace the feed cap out in front as needed should restore full deflection. It's not an expensive fix for a qualified shop either.. But my advice is take it into them and save the pu/del charges. And call around to see if they have the Ic on-hand and about how much it will be to replace it before choosing the shop to take it to..
Let me know how it goes!
