I have the same problem with the GE JGRP17. After using my oven last night, it started beeping and flashing the F7 error code. I tried turning off the power, but that didn't work. The oven is now disconnected from the power supply because the beeping will not stop.

How do you clean "the electrical connections to the control board"? Has this worked for anyone? Any other possible solutions?

I have had this error on my oven (electric) but I think your touch panel is similar. Had same F7 error 3 times and figured lasting fix.

Remove the panel, there is a ribbon attached to the board, unclip it. Clean the contacts lightly.

Reinstalling at this point is tempory fix.

For long lasting results, get a tube of dielectric grease at an auto supply store like Kragan's. Using a tooth pick, apply a light bit on each contact on the ribbon, be neat applying the dielectric so not to bridge(short) the contacts. Renstall the ribbon. Been 4 years since last cleaning, and no problem with oven.

need a permanent fix to the F7 problem, suggestions?

  • sgcole Sep 22, 2008

My oven was off and all of a sudden it came up with the default F7-E6, the first few times I was able to clear it off but now it is on the control pad and nothing on the control pad will work. I tried disconnecting the power but this did not change anything. I've read about the fix of the ribbon, my problem is how do I get to the control pad ribbon.

F-7 means either the touch pad is stuck or a relay on the control board is stuck. if the code came up while the oven was not being used then the touch pad is shorted. if it came up while in use then the controlboard is bad

My stove is beeping and is flashing F7. What does this mean, it is a built in oven.

The F7 error code means that a function key on the touchpad is shorted or stuck, the F7 can be cleared by pushing the clear/off button,if the error code returns the touchpad would need to be replaced.

F7 dC

Hi there,

Well first of all you determine if problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting Ribbon Cable from control and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs
If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.
If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.
This error code F7 means Function pad button stuck or Bad clock: Unstick button or Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC)......
Post comments for more help or information........

Good Luck!!

Error code F7

your problem is with the EOC (Electronic oven control) or touch pad if it is seperate from the control...if the touch pad is seperate...unplug range - access the control panel - remove the wiring/tape wire from touchpad to EOC...plug range back in...leave over night...if f7 code comes back it's the EOC...if the error code clears it's the touchpad...replace the part with the problem...if touchpad built into EOC replace the EOC. Hope this helps...if you have any other questions please feel free to comment again.
