Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No sound. Picture is fine. Not muted. Hooked up another TV to cable box and it works fine. Kids mess with the TV and remote all the time but I've tried everything with no luck. I've worked on various electrical things but never a rear projection TV. Model# 52G886. It's four years old. Is this something I might be able to fix myself?

    No luck with external speakers!

  • randi46 Jul 26, 2009

Thanks for the reply. Is this audio board a "plug-in" or is it something I would need to solder in? Also how would I identify the audio board?

Have you tried any external speakers hooked onto this tv yet? IF you have some, please try them as that will help narrow down the problem better.

Ok, that means your audio circuitry is most likely at fault and the audio board needs to be replaced. You should be able to get one through a local shop or the manufacturer if you wish to replace it yourself.

    You may also try www.partstore.com

Let me know how this goes

It should just be a plug in, follow the wiring from the speakers to the board, simple as that or get the replacement first and then you can match the replacement with the one in the tv.

  4. Check if the Cable Box/TV/VCR has a SAP/MTS switch (Secondary Audio Program / Multichannel Television Sound). If so, make sure it is set to the proper setting. No sound coming from TV....recently relocated and ran TV from cable box, have lost remote to TV and now cannot get sound to work...picture good just cant get sound?

I think you are muting the the remote before you relocated...you need a remote to un-mute the sound of your TV...this cannot be done using the volume control in your TV unless you have the remote...if you loss the remote...buy a universal remote control

Does say a dvd player give sound when connected to the same input? If you have determined that the source is good and the speakers are turned on in the menu then I would replace the main board.

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

I have a Sharp LC37D43U TV that has no audio. The volume indicator shows can be moved up or down but no sound comes through the speakers. The picture works fine. I have nothing else connected to the TV....

It appears you ve discovered the sound task levers required to adjustment properties. Your Tv can still move levers even when the volume is set to mute. Select the unmute button before any voice or audio would be reactivated. Assuming that seting the TV on mute has predominant integrety over the volume functions where not unmuting usually with the same button on the remote would not achieve accessibility to the volume functions. refer to the TV user guide for diagnostic audios. Good luck

Denon avr-1907 sound from TV stopped working

Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).

First make sure that the audio cables for the cable box are plugged in. Second look on the front of the cable box and try to change the volume on the cable box itself most likley the volume on the cable box itself has been turned down.
