How do I fix the tape holder system on my camcorder? The door won't lock, and the cassette won't get inside the compartment.

hi,
is it close without a cassette ? if so the reel sensor in the cassette compartment may be faulty. if the head drum not rotates the cassette drive will not work correctly, if so please loosen the head drum with a plastic rod or some tools like that. do not put your finger in hence sometimes will jam your finger. remember don"t touch the scanning chip of the head.

The VHS tape will not stay in the VCR - I have read the whole manual and can't seem to fix the problem. When it is put in, it immediately comes back out? Help!!

Remove the top cover & have a look at the deck mechanism. If there have been children in the house there may be an object lying inside obstructing the tape. If this is clear, watch carefully to see if the tape drops down into the deck mechanism, possibly the tape flap is not being raised or one of the guide arms on the deck maybe damaged or broken which stops the cassette from dropping into the mechanism. If the cassette drops down ok, does the tape then start to be pulled out of the cassette by the guide arms?

Usually this occurs when the door latch release mechanism is broken. This mechanism is located on the basket where you push the tape in and it's job is to open the tape "door" on the cassette that you insert. Unfortunately, the only fix for this is to replace the cassette basket. I know your camcorder is actually made by JVC, but I don't have access to a manual so I can't supply a part number for you.

Door open and closing problem

My dishwasher model DU3003XL0 has a similar problem. It happened yesterday. I had opened the door all the way, and then I heard a loud clunk sound. I suspect it is the spring mechanism in the door, and am ordering new springs, and hope to fix it myself.
Wish me luck.

"Reinsert the Cassette"

If the warranty is no longer valid, try to identify what part of the camera is being scraped, then gently bend it back into place. There are a lot of thin metal shields inside the camera that could easily have been dented. I would strongly suggest a repair, as it is a very simple problem that can be easily fixed by moderately skilled hands.

Usually when I got that error message, I would take out the cassette, close it up, take off the battery, and smack it really hard a couple of times. It sounds odd, but it comes from a sony technician. It's the perfect temporary fix.

Teac A-21 Stereo Cassette Tape Deck turns un, but won't play cassette tapes...

very likely that the drive belt has broken. I have fixed a TEAC myself using a large O-Ring from a hardware store (I know I was lucky to find a very close match). Open the unit and find the broken belt and take it to a hardware store to "size up" a replacement. Use the opportunity to oil the gear shafts and clean the rubber pinch roller.

Door Latch

The latch is reset by battery power - try charging the battery and reinstalling it. If that doesn't do it, it'll have to go to a repair shop.
