I have another problem though i fixed that problem and had it running last night the picture is off though. the picture starts about 6" above the bottom of the screen and its still has a little color setting i have to do but when i was playing with it my blue light flickered a little and shut off now it wont turn on. I dont have money to buy a new one or have it repaired what do you think i could do to fix it? thank you so much!

The CRTs contain coolant which is most likely what leaked as thats the only liguid inside the television.

the 4 blink error is for vertical failure. Which means the coolant may have dripped onto the A Board ( Green board on the right side looking in the rear) near IC8003 which is the vertical. The recomended repair id to thoroughly clean the area wherever the coolant leaked, then let dry. I use denatured alcohol first then a warm damp cloth, then I also resolder all components that were affected by the coolant as the coolant will destroy the solder. If the spill was there long enough you may need to replace the A board. If I can assist you further please let me know.

If you were adjusting the Blue drive control it may just be turned down to low to light the tube. Try turning up the blue drive control (screen) just a little the tube should then light again.

On stnandbymode never start SONY KP57HW40

Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.

I have a kp57hw40 sony tv and the scren it flashs

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture
