Question about Apple iPhone 3GS Black (16 GB)
It does not ring, only vibrates
There's a switch on the left side at the top of the iphone that turns the ringer on and off. Make sure this is towards the front of the phone to enable the ringer

Sometimes, the phone for some reason will not recognize that you switched the sound back on with the switch on the top left side. Try silencing it again and then turning to back to volume. If this doesn't work, simply turn the phone off and back on.

SOURCE: iphone doesnt vibrate
I had the same problem: my phone wouldn't vibrate at all... I read a lot on other forums and found the following solution: If you turn the phone face down, and hit it on the metal side a couple of times (I hit it with just enough force not to cause it any damage) the vibrate will come back on. I almost didn't believe this, until I tried it.
Good luck to you all.
